I remember this happening - very upsetting case. Awful to think a miscarriage of justice may have happened, too. As to whether he’s responsible, it is hard to say.

I have always thought it sounds like one of his attacks. I remember the case so well, just such a horrendous thing to happen.

Goodbyesummertime · 06/09/2021 07:30

Hope justice will be done one way or another. It must be unspeakably hard for the families.

Bastard

I remember that case well and for many years after with the dad and the surviving daughter. Having seen the TV manhunt with his story sounds familiar way. Least might be closure for the family

Cattenberg · 26/09/2021 23:34

I wouldn’t trust anything Bellfield says. If I remember rightly, he loved to torment his victim’s families as much as he could.

That said, I hope this is a breakthrough in the case.

*victims’

I've always had doubts that Michael Stone murdered Lin and Megan Russell. Such a horrific and brutal crime, that poor family and also the little dog was killed too. Josie is an inspiration as well as her father.

KaptainKaveman · 08/10/2021 07:35

Bellfield has admitted to those killings before, then withdrawn the so called 'confession'. It's his modus operandi. He enjoys playing with people and taunting them. It garners him attention. He won't ever stop.

Unless some proper evidence is found this so called confession will go nowhere and that's just how he likes it. A devil has no conscience.

thelastgoldeneagle · 08/10/2021 07:54

He's written 15 pages of notes and has just suddenly remembered being in the area, 25 years later? Yeah, right.

Bellfield is a grotesque parody of a human being. He's sick. I would pay him no more attention.

KaptainKaveman · 08/10/2021 08:01

Apparently he identifies as a Muslim now. It's only a matter of time before he decides he's a woman, I reckon. And then what? will he be moved to a female prison?

Wanttohideaway · 18/10/2021 16:37

Bellfield is totally beyond evil. To want to inflict further pain and suffering on already grieving families is the lowest of the low. Vile.

Agree with this

You cannot rely on the word of men like this. The are many cases of mass murderers claiming credit for crimes they did not commit to boost their "reputation". After all he's got nothing to lose.

Michael stone has consistently denied the murders and requested DNA analysis of a shoelace found at the scene

There are no witnesses who can place him at the location
He's never owned a beige car
The hairs and fingerprints found at the scene were not matched to him despite forensic analysis

Stone is violent and mentally ill.
But that doesn't mean his conviction is safe

Wanttohideaway · 21/10/2021 18:48

@WaltzingBetty agree. His conviction was also based on the testament of a known crook, Damien Daley. He claimed that Stone confessed to him, yet the information Stone allegedly imparted to Daley was already in the newspapers which Daley would have had access to. Josie Russell in her interviews told police that the man was tall, like her father (who is around 6ft). Stone is shorter. Bellfield is much more physically formidable than Stone.

CovidCorvid · 21/10/2021 18:53

I’ve always thought the Michael Stone conviction doesnt add up.

Wanttohideaway · 21/10/2021 20:57

I think Kent police were under intense pressure to convict someone and Stone was a scapegoat.

I remember a programme on telly about this ages ago. Its been connected for a long while.
