Noooooo Sad

I feel like they release these articles to prompt a buying surge!

Just because you might not be able to buy a huge turkey and a million presents doesn't mean Christmas is cancelled. Scaremongering article alert.

gardeninggirl68 · 25/08/2021 23:05

Yeah we are not going to get in the volume of stock where I work. Not the amount we usually get anyway.

Imported Xmas trees will be thin on the ground too

Blueleah · 25/08/2021 23:08

Last year we bought a frozen turkey in September because we were worried about shortages due to Covid. This year we might do the same because of Brexit. We’re trying to consume less anyway so not overly worried about not being able to buy tons of stuff.

yes it was hard last year to buy goods
and now they have as panicking in August.
it doesnt help

This is drawn from stories about the shortage of HGV drivers. Whilst Brexit is a factor, it is only a part of the problem - according to some experts, a relatively small part.

The pandemic is a large part of the problem, leading to a loss of 30,000+ HGV driving tests and European drivers going home as the economy shut down. Tax changes are also a factor, plus there has been a long-term problem with recruiting new drivers, with potential new recruits being unhappy with the money, hours, lack of facilities and the image of lorry drivers.
