New info on the Claudia Lawrence case. I’ve been following this case since the very beginning, I’m really hoping the family finally get the closure that they deserve, it’s been far too long. It’s so sad that her father passed away without any closure or knowing what happened.

I'm following too, I live in York, terrible thing for her family, then her dad died not knowing what happened to her.
On top of that her character was assassinated, party girl, slept with married men etc.
It was like she somehow deserved to go missing / be murdered.
Poor girl, I'm really hoping they find out what happened to her and whoever was involved gets the punishment they deserve

I agree!! It must have been horrible for her parents to listen to all that. Basically people saying she deserved it / had it coming / it was her own fault because of her lifestyle etc. Do you think the Nags Head pub plays a big part? People who drank there definitely know what happened to her IMO

@Rnm62
My money is on someone from the nags head, we used to live in Heworth / Stockton Lane area, drank in the nags head, knew of Claudia through friends but didn't really give her much thought apart from hearing the gossip about her.
I think someone from there knows something.
Very unlikely that a stranger attacked her, it feels like it was planned, hiding a body takes some thought and planning

Quick99 · 25/08/2021 07:25

Someone in that pub group knows what happened it feels like it's been an open secret for years. The police just need the right evidence let's hope justice is done soon.

FlorenceWintle · 25/08/2021 07:30

It’s quite a disturbing thought that ‘people’ know what happened and are covering it up. It’s a murder, not a speeding ticket.

frogface69 · 26/08/2021 01:06

A blue tent has been put up in the search area.

I'm so surprised this is not bigger news! I guess with everything else going on. I'm hopeful at least her mum will get some answers soon.

It’s strange isn’t it ? I only found out about the tent because my DB texted me ( he’s local to the area) after one of his taxi passengers told him and he googled, so it is true. But to get this far after such a long time, it’s big news. I dearly hope her family can finally lay her to rest.
MayorGoodwaysChicken · 26/08/2021 16:35

I so hope they find closure for her poor mum. It’s horrific that so many people clearly know what happened and have stayed silent for so many years. Even if it’s in fear, there’s a lot of ways to get information to the police anonymously. And agree, the character assassination of her in the press has been awful. All the snide remarks about a ‘complex love life’. There’s a strong undercurrent of victim blaming and I can’t help but wonder how it’s affected police efforts to find her Sad

SunbathingDragon · 26/08/2021 16:37

Surely they are only searching there because of a credible tip off.

I really hope Claudia’s family get some answers soon. Her poor father dying without knowing.

Oakdog · 26/08/2021 17:42

We only live a couple of miles away, and cycle past most weekends.
I really hope they find her soon. It must be so hard for everyone who knew her, especially her poor family.

Oakdog · 26/08/2021 17:44

*past the gravel pits

Crimeismymiddlename · 26/08/2021 18:07

I hope they find something so her poor family can put her to rest. I have to admit I have always thought the pub group knew exactly what happened and who is responsible. They would know her habits and routine as well as that her car was off the road. A lot of the character assassination came from them I think, I mean it is perfectly normal for a very attractive, single 32 yo women to have relationships, the slant they put on it was party girl who sleeps with married men felt personal and extremely nasty. Normally the press would be falling backwards over themselves to portray a pretty young women as an angel, and I can only believe it was the pub group, plus the fact that she was single rather than married with children in her early thirties, rather than early twenties that made them turn her story from awful event to she deserved it for living a sordid secret lifestyle.

PatchworkElmer · 26/08/2021 18:18

I really hope they get some answers for her family.

Winemewhynot · 26/08/2021 18:20

That group of ‘friends’ will know, it’ll be the worst kept secret in the nags head.

Really hope they find her and give the family closure.

Rnm62 · 26/08/2021 20:19

Loyalties change over the years, people split up / get divorced etc so hopefully this is what has happened and they’ve spoken up (finally!) about what they know. Really hope this is the breakthrough they need, it’s been far too long and the poor family deserve closure. Just a shame her dad died and was unable to lay her to rest.

It’s difficult to talk about Claudia without being called a victim blamer. Even though that is absolutely not the intention.
It’s so complicated.
It’s not only men who never spoke up, it’s their wives and girlfriends.
And people don’t want to speak ill of someone who is most likely murdered.
A lot of people were frightened of speaking up.

Malibukev · 26/08/2021 22:05

Live about an hour away but often visit the city of York. This is always on my mind when there. Hope they are onto something.
