Afghanistan: Does anyone know what's happening to the babies and children passed over the fence to soldiers at Kabul Airport?

That's it.
Are they being flown out? To where?

I’d like to know too. Maybe they have family already inside the airport?

I’ve seen two videos and both cut out before you see if mum is pulled over the wall too.

Hoppinggreen · 20/08/2021 09:08

I imagine the footage cuts out before Mum is pulled up too or there is family already inside. I doubt a soldier would take an unaccompanied baby of that age

Jellybeanlovehearts · 20/08/2021 09:14

I saw a video where the mum was pulled over too. Poor people, all of them.

Kendodd · 20/08/2021 09:26

I do hope mum comes as well.
If I was in that situation even if I wasn't saved myself, I'd want my baby out. I can't even imagine the desperation.

I've seen photos of soldiers (I think Turkish) caring for unattended babies. I don't think parents are always with them, sadly. What can we do? Is there anything?

Bufffy · 20/08/2021 20:23

They did say yesterday that the British at least are not evacuating unaccompanied children so any children pictures being passed over were children of parents already the walls
Or the parents would be following them over the wall.

I read this morning that one baby has been reunited with his father inside the airport.
It’s beyond awful

AbsolutelyPatsy · 21/08/2021 08:17

no i am sure the mothers follow the babies over the fence

DancesWithTortoises · 21/08/2021 08:28

I saw this morning that the babies are treated for dehydration and fed then given back.

Wheretoeattweenandteen · 21/08/2021 11:23

Yes babies helped medically.

The heat and sheer crush at airport is actually killing people

gardeninggirl68 · 21/08/2021 12:04

There was another thread where it said they were handed back to parents. Soldiers are not equipped to care for babies

mstrotwood · 22/08/2021 17:31

Some of them are being flown out to Norway. Article explaining it in Norwegian here.
The Norwegian army is in charge of the field hospital at Kabul airport, the children are taken there first, but as more children are coming in they've decided to fly some of them out. Norwegian soldiers are taking care of them during the flight (picture).

Some were passed over as there were medical facilities in the air port and then they were passed back so it was not really as it looked on TV that people were giving them away to soldiers.
