Just read this on BBC News - an old lady has fought off 3 youths attacking a 12 year old girl with her walking stick!

Hope this link works!

Well done that lady! And for giving her the money out of her own purse too. Brings tears to my eyes.

Hope they find her, she HAS to be a candidate for one of those pride of britain awards!

Brilliant, I sometimes think that that generation has more bravery in their pinkies than we have in our whole selves now a days

What a wonderful woman.

It's shame that more stories are coming out like this. There was one either at the end of last week or the beginning of this about 2 women walking their dogs run to help an elderly man who was being attacked.

One of them shouted to 2 male PCSO who walked to the seen while calling for police while these 2 women fought off the group attacking the old man.

The police answer was that PCSO's cannot arrest or detain people so they were unable to help.

I agree, PPB. They are maybe less worried about retaliation or the fact that the person may have a knife/gun, etc.

I think that they also grew up with a better sense of community. They would never walk past people in trouble

Exactly Paula- not a nation of wimps that age group!!

Thank God she didn't get stabbed.

Little toe-rags {angry]

Very impressive - good for her! And I do hope the family get to say 'thank you' in person.
