Absolutely stunned that these two behaved like this - even more shocked at Lord Rix - 'they had not sought to kill' what part of your brain says beating the crap out of someone with planks of wood would not perhaps kill them!!!!!

sorry but absolutely gobsmacked at the light sentences these lads have now got. 3 - 3 1/2 years in jail - bloody hell.

Why the fuck have their sentences been reduced to such a minimal term?

Where were social services when this vulnerable man was being abused by this pair of low lifes for a period of months?

I kind of wish I hadn't opened this thread

WestCountryLass · 08/11/2007 20:44

Having read that, I am absolutely disgusted! FFS, they terrorised that poor man and abused him many times, the victim was let down by whoever should have been caring for him (Police/SS).

suedonim · 08/11/2007 20:46

The photo of that poor guy. I read this story earlier and my jaw hit the ground, tbh. I don't know how it can be that they 'didn't intend to kill'. Surely if you hit someone with planks of wood, death is going to be a possible outcome?

edam · 08/11/2007 20:47

I hope the parole board do their job properly and keep these disgusting excuses for human beings locked up for a very long time.

Change in sentencing could be based on a technicality of some sort, I suppose, to do with in what circumstances you can impose a discretionary life sentence or something.

eidsvold · 09/11/2007 02:36

the photo is actually of ANOTHER person they had beaten!! not the poor guy they beat to death and threw into a river!!!!

Interestingly we are having issues here with people attacking - ie king hitting others outside nightclubs etc or kicking them in the head when they are on the ground during a fight and saying they never meant to kill them - makes me so of course a bloody kick to the head has the potential to KILL someone!! They then get a lesser sentence as the intention was not there - again - makes me wonder what goes on in some people's heads.

They reduced the sentences? What bloody message does that send to all the other low lifes who carry on like that?

That poor poor man. This was a sustained campaign and they DESERVE life sentences. What bloody planet is bloody Lord Rix ON??

PrettyCandles · 09/11/2007 06:33

I thought that if you are incapable of understanding the consequences of behaviour that can lead to killing somebody, and yet go ahead with that sort of behaviour, you are considered criminally insane. Perhaps I'm being simplistic, but either these two are murderers, or they are insane.

I can understand that a fit of rage, a sudden assault that leads to a death, can be mitigated by the plea 'I didn't mean to kill him', but surely not a sustained campaign of repeated assaults? Surely that shows an intention to willingly take things as far as possible - ie accepting that their victim would eventually die from their treatment?

Bouncingturtle · 09/11/2007 07:29

Words fail me . The little feckers.

suedonim · 09/11/2007 12:08

I guess in some ways the identity of the man in the photo is irrelevant, if the photo's intention is to depict the 'handiwork' of those two criminals.

Ledodgy · 09/11/2007 12:11

It's unbelievable and on the same lines as this as you say what the hell goes on in their heads?

haychee · 09/11/2007 12:12

Its sick.

They should be tortured themselves repeatedly, daily, for twice as long as they terrorised this man.

suedonim · 09/11/2007 12:27

Thirteen???

Peachy · 09/11/2007 12:42

It's incredible its anything less than a life sentence- how comfortable would lord Rix be with these people moving in next to his family on release, I onder? would he feel they were not intentional murderers?

the 13 year old murder is incredible- such a young age.
