on a down note (sorry) this story broke as the police were getting a ticking off for the killing of the Brazilian on the tube.

The police needed a good news story and, if anything, the leaking could harm the lawrence case.

News like this should be broken when they are ready to charge the guys who did it. I hope it's today.
