Now, I'm the last person to take any interest in sport but with a 10 month old baby, you've got to admit this is seriously impressive.

Am I wrong to wonder if she breast fed....???

I think I read somewhere that she did b/feed and apparently having a baby is brilliant for long distance runners - increases oxygen capacity on something. Did you see the baby on the news - very cute!

According to DH, she ran 150 miles a week until 6 months pregnant.

Sorry, seriously, I think this is some testament to The Supportive Husband. You don't do that kind of thing on your own, do you? There was some reference on the news to sleepless nights.... Can you imagine: "no dear, it's your turn. I did 25 miles again today..."

It's interesting because the husband has come in for flack for being a bit of a g*t prevously - very very driven. Baby probably done them both good.

I think she only BF until sprog was 3 months. Princess Paula was injured then and not training at full whack.

Looking at her arms and legs makes me feel ill...she is too thin.

How can she be 'too thin'? She is fitter than any of us I'll bet.

So sad to hear how dissapointed she was she didn't do better...she WON! Never liked her!

I think she runs because she likes it...bit like macrame really, doesn't have to be a point.

I know she is marvellous, an inspiration etc etc etc - but I just can't warm to her. Which I suspect says a lot more about me than it does about her...

I dunno, I mean, I've got nothing against her and I'm thrilled that we have a proper world class athlete to support, but I don't understand how she's meant to be an inspiration. She has a freakish natural gift, she does what she loves - why is that going to inspire us? Most people are going to look at her and think: "there's just no way I can do what she does". It's just kind of irrelevant to anyone's decision to take up running/exercise.

Don't really understand either the inspiring thing...she just runs, what the fxx? is that inspiring? Guys that run after a ball... gosh, very inspiring... Sport is so overated in our society... is bloody running..

Of course she's going to be lean there is not a ounce of fat on her. She is not skinny she is a honed athlete ffs.

it's inspiring because she's got to the top of her "game" - matters not whether it's sport, brain surgery or care worker - fact is she v good at what she does.

And Gizmo - my brother was inspired to take up running after watching several "high profile" runners in the late 1990's, and this was after he used to bunk off PE lessons at school because he was terrible at it.

He's since entered 10 marathons - finished 8 of them (last one he dropped out of - Dublin - was because he pulled his hamstring) and is (apparently - I know nothing of these things) just 20 minutes short of getting a "guaranteed" places for being "good for age" with his speed at the London Marathon
