The BBC is now reporting it as 50 passengers and 12 crew (2 pilots, 10 cabin crew) but the total is the same.

Limited information so far but it looks like the plane dropped from nearly 11,000 feet in less than 30 seconds. Reports suggest the plane was still in one piece when it hit the water.

Thank you. The BBC report didn't make that clear. I thought that the number of crew seemed somewhat excessive for a 737.

Those poor souls and their poor families.

Just noticed this was from January, but popped up at the top of my active.

Not that it makes it any less tragic.
