It's his microphone. The fluffy ones are used outside to reduce wind noise. Called dead cats / kittens for small ones

OK, I'm slightly frayed after 24 hours of US election, and this has just sent me over the edge.

When you break in to find where the funny noise is coming from, I'll be the one curled on the floor sobbing and giggling hysterically.

I noticed it on the 6 o clock news then Chris Packham had a yellow one on Autumn watch to match his yellow puffer jacket! Never seen them before then I see them twice in one night.
