time bomb with size on the increase

If the money was spent on cycle lanes- proper cycle lanes with curbs to stop cars "pretending" they are bikes then children and adults could use bikes as transport.

The increase in movement and excersise would help curb this time bomb.

Only 6% of car journeys are over 3 miles - leaving 94% of journeys under 3 miles and could be done on bike. Not though on the roads with mad car drivers

Strangley bike holidays in and from the uk are at an all time high, so we must like cycling....

Of course the goverment wouldn't like this would they as cycling isn't taxed

I agree ivykaty, but would also like to see a compulsory license scheme (involving a competency test) and compulsory insurance for cyclists using the roads.

We;ve got proper cycle lanes. They are always empty while the cyclists "pretend" they are cars and hold everyone up

Any car journeys I do are either with a car full of people or I'm buying something I couldn't get on a bike.

(can you guess I hate cycling with a passion)

I agree! (And I am of larger size)

Funnily enough, I read in the local paper yesterday that our village is to get cycle lanes installed within this financial year. Great, except I want to cycle OUT of our village!

Actually, I must buy a bike first

I am Dutch, and I just love the fact that over there bikes are the most used form of transport. Over here I find it way too dangerous to cycle with the dc.

Perhaps I am thinking in to simple a way - but if we got cycle lanes and they were safe to use for adults and children, well then people would use their bikes more for transport - lose weight and save the enviroment at the same time by not using a car...

Killing two birds with one stone
