should State Troops be intervening in Portland, Oregon?

I'm asking because I genuinely don't know what to think about this.
I've just listened to PM on Radio 4, which had a long interview with someone decrying this. I thought that, in the interests of impartiality, the BBC should have allowed the opposite POV to be heard but, hey, that's the BBC for you.
I don't like Trump, in fact, I find it frightening that he's the President. But, protests have been happening in Portland every night for several weeks. I see pictures of looting and arson, but have no idea of how common this is. If this is happening, and the local authorities can't stop it, surely the Fed's should step in?
Has anyone got any unbiased sources of what is happening out there?

Now that the federal agents have been withdrawn the protests have been peaceful. There have been no major incidents nor have the police intervened. Despite this, Trump is threatening "very strong offensive force". That tells you everything you need to know.

Genuine question. How long are these "peaceful protests" expected to be allowed to go on for? Because they're causing huge disruption to everyone living there and the footage I keep seeing is of passers by or people sat in a restaurant completing minding their own business but being harassed by protesters. People can't get to work, businesses are closed and the protesters are demanding the police be defunded when that is not the majority will. I think if I was living there I would be wanting some strenuous action to put an end to the disruption and find some way back to normality.

The peace lasted for a day after full withdraw of Federal Officers. The nightly violence continues at the same level to this day.

The Federal Officers' presence was never the reason. Is was just the most convenient excuse at the time.

You need to go on YT to indipendant content producers to see the violence going on as most MSM are massively playing it down.
Put it this way. If after Obama got into office, had right wing thug protesters violently attacked people, state infrastructure shops and police because they weren't happy, how long do you think you would have been ok before deciding enough was enough and the authorities needed to stamp it out.
The left have a saying, "Become ungovernable" This is what we are seeing play out every night now for months.
