Wheres SouthEastAstra, her DP predicted this.

It's going to hit those of us with postal workes in the family quite hard financially.

But after the crappy way DH was told his hours are changing with no consideration for his out of work responsibilities or my working hours I'm all behind them

royal mail strike

they are lowfat. my dp is so frustrated with it all. he just wants to work, they don't need this.

4 day strikes for october. i'm so angry

LowFat · 21/09/2007 09:46

I think the Union have pretty cleary spelled the message out. And although striking will be a PITA for the boss'es it's not them eathing beans on toast for a week because of it IYKWIM.

We are quite lucky because DH's structured week off means he is'nt working for 2 of the days anyway, and he already made up the time on his other week off to cover one of the days. Also my boss will allow me some overtime to help as well. But DH has said that strikes are now going to be weekly, and systematic until things are resolved. And there's no way we can make all that up

And re his changing hours, there a group of about 4 or 5 from his office who are going to see the manager together to say the flexibility RM talk about needs to be demonstrated in more than 'Go part-time' or 'split your shift'

makes me bloody seethe

expatinscotland · 21/09/2007 15:19

I'm behind them!

southeatsastras · 21/09/2007 15:54

i really don't know how we can make up 4 days lost work. guess i'll have to get some sort of weekend work. my dp comes home so depressed at the moment. it just seems so illogical, all he wants to do is go to work and do a good job.

LowFat · 21/09/2007 17:53

Like my DH too. He said all there office has signed a request today asking for meetings to discuss changes etc. Dont know if it will do much good but we can hope.

BTW have replied on the thread you linked to below SEA!

dp has had the national papers at his office today. the managers are refusing to answer questions from the public, the sh*t is hitting the fan

southeastastra · 28/09/2007 17:38

here

dp's office have sent out all sorting office staff on deliveries, including a 7month pg woman and 63 year old man.

so many have been suspended today too.

saggarmakersbottomknocker · 28/09/2007 17:42

Oh I hate that word 'modernisation'. dh is a firefighter - they've been 'modernised' - the service is worse than it's ever been and morale is rock bottom.

We lost loads of money when dh was on strike. Hope you are all managing OK.

southeastastra · 28/09/2007 19:40

they shut the local fire station round here smbk, what is wrong with this country atm?

dp ready to jack it in now.

southeastastra · 28/09/2007 21:35

i'm so angry

bump for lowfat are you there?

Drinkypops · 28/09/2007 21:39

My dp is a postie, we could really do without this right now.
