Is there no "other" news?

What else is going on in the world that we're blissfully unaware of?

Has the usual business of government stopped altogether or are there things happening that we would usually hear more about?

Forest fires near the Chernobyl site would surely have been huge news in any other time?

Have all the refugees and war zones stopped? I imagine conditions in the camps must be horrific but we're not hearing about it?

The "news" is the same every day, it's not even like there's anything new to tell us about the virus or it's management, buy the mainstream news outlets aren't telling us about anything else. Is there really no other news?

Is it because journalists are all working from home, have they lost their usual access, are stories being deliberately hidden, is the virus the only thing anyone cares about ftb, is there really nothing else newsworthy going on in the world?

Have a look at The Week magazines website they do a podcast on 'everything except the main news story' and have a very international perspective. You don't need a subscription to access some content but I would recommend one. Also BBC world service radio programmes are worth checking out. And New Scientist. But yes there is a news vacuum with a huge slowing of international travel, journalists don't want to spread Covid, parliament's etc not meeting, no sport.
