At least I hope his resistance fails. REally can't stand when politicians think they no best and don't care what the people actually have to say.

I want to know how many people actually support this.

Union to vote on EU referendum

He's not doing very well with the unions is he? I wonder if they'll run off and vote lib dem.

I do. I am sooo pissed off at the patronising 'It's not the Constitution in another form you silly electorate' stance taken by Brown et al.

eleusis · 12/09/2007 14:17

YEs, don't worry your pretty little heads you silly commoners. That annoys me -- and I'm not even eligible to vote. But, it strikes me as intolerably smug.

The only reason I can see to no put it to a vote is because he thinks it will fail. So he is charging forward believing his people are against it.

I want a vote for the same reasons as Callisto. Why are we 'not to be trusted'?

expatinscotland · 12/09/2007 14:28

I'd like the chance to be able to vote on it.

Sheherazadethegoat · 12/09/2007 14:30

i think most folk are too stupid to vote on it. there iwll be a dailymail stampede to vote no without anyone really understanding. we have a democratically elected government who make decisions for us. if you don't like their decisions vote them out. i trust old gordy.

eleusis · 12/09/2007 14:38

I think that when we arrive in a place that the people are too stupid to be trusted to vote for themselves, then we have lost sight of the democracy. And that is indeed a scary place. Yikes!

I wonder if there is an online petition somewhere?

Oh oh... must get my new nanny to register to vote.

And I must get citizenship... when I can srounge up £655.
