These things never take into consideration:
a) if there's any gainful employment beyond the seasonsal variety anywhere in the area
b) whether or not the place is an utter hole full of yobs and shite schools.

Tinker · 03/09/2007 12:35

I think it has taken schools into account though

My god, Owen Wilson looks like Lucifer in that photo!

Poor soul!

expatinscotland · 03/09/2007 12:36

Well, then, obviously you've not been to Livingston because it is a dump and you'd have to pay me money to live there.

These surveys are usually shite, anyhow.

Tinker · 03/09/2007 15:03

Well, is it the Daily Mail

Uggh, I didn't even clock that!

But poor Owen really looks rough, especially compared to that stellar snap of Catherine Zeta Jones just above him.

zippitippitoes · 03/09/2007 15:09

stratford on avon..value for money who are they kidding

smurfgirl · 03/09/2007 15:09

Beverley is lovely and there are some jobs in the area - certainly myself and DP manage to keep ourseles employed and neither of us would have any problems finding another job should we need to. We live v.near Beverley btw and the plan is to move there in a few years.

expatinscotland · 03/09/2007 15:09

Take it from me, Livingston's a dive - sorry, folks who have to live there.

Tinker · 03/09/2007 15:12

Well Salford hasn't exactly got a great reputation. I wonder what they define as a town. Some parts of Salford MBC (or whatever it's called)are nice

Livingston is a total hole. Durham is awful - full of yah stoodents.

Perth - well, it's my home town Even more twee these days than when I was a kid

UnquietDad · 03/09/2007 23:25

I used to live near Maidstone, which came second. Someone definitely has the rose-tinted glasses on. Wouldn't go back there if you paid me!

UnquietDad · 03/09/2007 23:26

Reminds me of the awful snobbish Phil and Kirstie thing about the "best" and "worst" places to live.

Hurlyburly · 03/09/2007 23:29

Now don't get me wrong, I am saying nothing about Beverley, Never been there so couldn't comment.

I did however see that Huddersfield is in the list.

Has anyone been to Huddersfield? If you've been, would you ever EVER go there again?

expatinscotland · 03/09/2007 23:30

You'd definitely need to pay me to live in any of the places in Scotland they mention.

Perth is lovely when there's no significant rain, which is becoming increasingly common, then it floods rather alarmingly.

Livingston, what can you say?

The word 'ned' comes to mind.

Linnet · 03/09/2007 23:37

I live in one of the Scottish towns mentioned, won't tell you which one, but I agree it's a lovely place to stay. although house prices are well out my league, or at least the kind of house I'd like to live in, lol
