on the news today there was an item about children playing on train lines, there's also a thread about children playing with fire.

not to mention road safety.

does anyone think there is a real lack of modern day public information films?

our local community channel seems to be the only one showing them.

When I was at primary school in the 70s, we used to get shown films by the police about not playing near trainlines, farms, and more often about never talking to STRANGERS. Does this still happen in primary schools? (My 2 are both pre-school).

mummylin2495 · 30/08/2007 14:59

im not sure what the other films will be about but i do know that one is railways and i think other may be electricity,They will be using different children for those but think gd is in one more ,but dont know which one yet.I think its great ,if awareness can help save lives.

southeastastra · 30/08/2007 15:01

i think i'll write a letter (to someone) don't know who though to get them on tv. surely the bbc should show them, we pay enough for licence.

mummylin2495 · 30/08/2007 15:28

i dont know who the film company are that are making them but do know that gd will be getting a copy of the film in october sometime.I als know that the person who played the pervert in the film is going to be in dr who sometime in february next year ,he was a real actor as was the person who played the postmistress.!

DrDaddy · 30/08/2007 16:58

I remember we saw one with a load of kids pratting around on a building site and one of them ended up getting run over by a steam roller! And the one about Strangers wasn't the Charlie one, but a REALLY scary feature film with kids getting snatched and being leered at by shadows of scary looking, unkempt men....You can tell I was traumatised by it. And I'm sure the policeman was always played by John Woodvine.

DrDaddy · 30/08/2007 16:59

The Charlie one always reminds me of The Prodigy song btw

southeastastra · 30/08/2007 19:48

don't remember the children with strangers at all, sounds horrible!

mummylin2495 · 30/08/2007 19:57

the one that gd has done is about a man who says he has lost his dog, gives the children money to buy dog bicuits [ cue the post office ] and says he will be in the trees looking for his dog when they comes back. The intention is they will show the film but stop at intervals to discuss various things with the school children

MynamesMikeIswimlikeafish · 30/08/2007 20:06

There was one all about me!

You can view some here. The 'Lonely Water' one was quite scary IIRC.
