It would be more worrying if the murderous scumbag was alive.

He controlled Iranian intervention in Syria.
He was behind the attack on the American Embassy in Baghdad on New Years Eve.

He was behind the rocket attack on an Iraqi airbase 3 days earlier that killed an American.

Was the USA meant to ignore those?
How many Americans need to be killed before an American President takes action?

Lordfrontpaw · 05/01/2020 01:06

What exactly did the US do after 9/11? More people are murdered in the US with guns.

Trump is desperate and vindictive. He is playing a bloody dangerous game here.

Sam1875 · 05/01/2020 11:25

Trump has done exactly what he was elected to do.
He knows that negotiating is the best way to deal with the sick ideology that Iran is pushing.
He knows that this man was the one behind many many deaths and was a threat to any improvement in Middle East situation.
Iran needs to talk, to accept they have to start acting like an international nation.... Sadly Obama had appeased Iran for too long, Trump will leave the door open for Iran to talk, via UK and France -
The current sanctions will work....
The world cannot continue to appease sick ideology that undermines freedoms of so many around the world

You can’t bully a country like that into doing what you want them to do.

They want sanctions lifted - the people on the street are suffering and the majority of people were born after the revolution, they have no part in it.

Iraq invaded them and they were on their own there, so they don’t trust anyone.

They are a Shia country and surrounded by other Muslim Sunni countries who view them as heretics. They have fought with America against Daesh - funny how they forgot that.

They are ruled by greedy crooks who get rich (as the wealthy and powerful often do at the expense of ordinary people) and they are stuck with them for the time being.

If ‘behaving like an international country’ means making up WMD lies, invading a country, bleeding it dry and leaving the nationals to the tender mercies of worse monsters, then they are doing just as bad as that now.

Trump is orchestrating this now to try to do a Thatcher with the Falklands. And he ain’t ‘doing what he said he would’ he is doing what he berated Obama for supposedly wanting to do.

If you want a sick ideology then look at trumps mates in the ME and Russia.

Not deluded. I have family in both countries so know from inside both. I don’t just look at trump with with MAGA hat on. He isn’t a politician for gods sake. He is a failed rich kid. What the hell does he know?

Rainbunny · 05/01/2020 15:49

Trump is far from preventing war. As of an hour ago the Iraqi government has voted to force US troops out of Iraq - exactly what Iran and Russia has wanted for years. This is not going to end in a glorious triumph for the USA.

Frankly I don't care if Trump wants to take his country into a war, as long as the UK and Europe don't get dragged along with him.

Lordfrontpaw · 05/01/2020 16:06

Well I care because I have relatives in both countries.

This will kill and injure people (even if war is averted) - real, live flesh and blood people who hate their respective governments and just want to get on with their lives. The have no say in what their shitty governments do or say.

As usual, it’s a handful of over privileged, selfish men with business, money and ego driving the action. They will walk away without a scratch and money in the bank.

HoneysuckIejasmine · 05/01/2020 16:26

Sam, why did you put Londoners in quotes?

Ocarinan · 05/01/2020 18:23

"Our President will start a war with Iran because he has absolutely no ability to negotiate. He's weak, and he's ineffective. So I believe that he will attack Iran sometime prior to the election, because he thinks that's the only way he can get elected."
