Does anyone know any of the background for this? www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-europe-50329597
It says An 89-year-old Holocaust survivor, a survivor of Auschwitz, in Italy has had to be assigned police guards for protection after receiving hundreds of threats on social media.

I have to say, I've sometimes been a bit annoyed with the some of the calls of anti-semitism, thinking some of it comes across as a witchhunt. Sometimes it seems that people use it to justify the state of Israel's every single action. But when you come across real anti-semitic hate for no reason... well that's it really isn't it? No reason. Just hate and destruction.

Criticism of Israel isn't necessarily anti-Semitism but, unfortunately, a lot of it is. Some people don't accept Israel's right to exist and/or they hold Israel to a higher standard than other states, obsessively focussing on errors that are far worse elsewhere.

Yes, some of Israel's defenders overreact, branding honest criticism as anti-Semitic. But far too much of the criticism of Israel is rooted in anti-Semitism.

It's pretty pervasive, believe you me. It's a bit like people shouting down misogyny and sexism and saying that they're overstated.

The far right is rising in Spain too.
