Was given six years in 2016. That went quickly.

I've just read the article online on the DM. The comments supporting him are outrageous. Do they not understand what he was sentenced for???

StealthPolarBear · 22/03/2019 21:41

There's a surprise. I remember plenty of them when he was convicted.

He served half his sentence.

AnyFucker · 22/03/2019 21:43

Fucking joke

StealthPolarBear · 22/03/2019 21:43

Yes one of the really sick jokes without a punchline

A prisoner sentenced to two years or more normally serves half their sentence in jail with the second half in the community on licence. If they break any of the conditions of their licence they are returned to jail. Time spent on remand is taken into account.

His release is nothing to do with who he is. It is absolutely standard practice. If we want this to change we will have to build a lot more jails.

AnyFucker · 22/03/2019 22:57

I hear he is not allowed to spend time alone with his daughter

It is fairly standard with sentences isn't it.

I'd find it odd if he isn't allowed to spend time alone with his dd. Will he be on the sex offender's register for life or is it reviewed does anyone know?

peteneras · 23/03/2019 20:13

I say, Build More Jails!

Quite honestly, I don't understand this serve half of your sentence nonsense. If the prisoner only deserves half the sentence, then give them half the sentence. If ten years then do 10 years. What's so difficult about that?

I don't understand this serve half of your sentence nonsense

It is how the law stands currently. If you want to know something about the history, take a look at www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-27021252

If the prisoner only deserves half the sentence, then give them half the sentence

And, just to be clear, the sentence does not end when the prisoner leaves prison. They are released under licence. There are strict conditions which may include wearing a tag. They will be recalled to prison if they breach any of those conditions. They will also go back into prison if there are allegations of further offending, even if those allegations are subsequently withdrawn.

As the article to which I link says, the idea of releasing early is that it helps with rehabilitation, meaning the prisoner is less likely to become a repeat offender. If you insist that the prisoner must spend the entire sentence in prison you will skip this part of rehabilitation completely.

StealthPolarBear · 24/03/2019 09:36

Sorry my issue isn't really about his sentence although I think six years was too short. I am just bothered that he's back out.

@GucciDay he would be able to apply for a review of life registration providing there are no orders in place.
