Hi everybody, Just wondered if you can take the time to sign my petition to scrap Universal credit. Please share with as many as you can on social media. Thanks in advance.

Your link does not work.

They can’t keep using the old system forever. The computer system is ancient.

correct link is here.
The new system has so many changes and I don't believe that the old system caused so many hardships and problems for people.

What do you think will happen to people already rolled out onto UC though? If it is scrapped isn't it going to be an administrative nightmare putting everyone back on the old system? There would inevitably be delays in people's payments not to mention the cost of implementing it. Or is this just for new claimants, then we'll be stuck with 2 different systems, not ideal. I agree it's been a massive cock up, but not sure scrapping it at this stage will help.

It's difficult, but people are really suffering. You can get sick unexpectedly, lose your job, have a relationship breakdown and suddenly need to claim benefits. All of these situations can be stressful, but having to wait weeks for money, falling behind with rent could lead to eviction. It's just my opinion, but I think they need to just completely rid of Universal credit.

I totally agree. I just worry about people having to wait weeks again for money whilst they change back to the old system 😕.

Hi all,
I hope you are all having a lovely Monday. My name is Thaira Mhearban and I work for the Women’s Budget Group (WBG) as a Communications Officer.

WBG (wbg.org.uk/) is an independent, not-for-profit organisation that monitors the impact of government policies on men and women. We put forward policies for a more gender equal future and build the capacity of women and women’s groups to participate in economic debates.
We have campaigned and published extensive research on how Universal Credit is pushing too many women and their children into poverty and how it further disadvantages women.
Our reports have examined the causes and consequences of poverty for women in the UK.
We are keen to speak to women effected by Universal Credit or concerned about the welfare system. Your experiences and opinions can help influence our campaign work in order to pressure the government to make real reform that will show their commitment to ending austerity.
If you are interested in getting involved in the work we do or would like to find out more, please do get in touch [email protected].
It would be great to have a chat and look at how we can work together to input in to economic debates and create progressive changes.
Below is a link to some of the issues we have covered in our reports.

I look forward to hearing from you 😊
Kind regards,
Thaira
