Syrian Boy attacked at School

I have not seen another thread this - apologies if there is already one.

Everything about this is so awful but the bit that made me cry was at the end when the boy just got up and walked away as if it is something that happens to him everyday.

Breaks my heart

Now another video has surfaced, allegedly of his sister also being attacked at the same school.

Lindy2 · 29/11/2018 00:22

But now also allegations of him being part of a group who assulted another girl prior to his attack. Police action was apparently taken.
It all seems very unpleasant and it looks like there is a lot more to the story.

endofthelinefinally · 29/11/2018 00:22

You can see he has his arm in a cast. According to the news his arm was broken in a previous attack.
Poor kid.
I am so glad my dc are no longer in school.

Maverick66 · 29/11/2018 00:44

Disgusting. Unfortunately an all,too common occurrence.
In my experience the usual response from school is for victim to move to another school.

Brexshit · 29/11/2018 00:45

Disgraceful Sad

GiantKitten · 29/11/2018 04:46

The boy who did it is a Tommy Robinson fan.
The allegations about the Syrian boy biting a girl are coming from the Tommy Robinson brigade. Hmm

The water bottle incident happened over a month ago & was reported to WYP at the time. Funny it’s taken them until now to take action.

GrammarTeacher · 29/11/2018 06:07

Yes, the boy's FB was left open for a LONG time and contained a lot of Tommy Robinson, Britain First etc nonsense.
It upsets me that this is happening in a school. It upsets me that people are so full of hate.
And even if the Syrian refugee had done something previously, that does not give another student the right to try water boarding him for heaven's sake!

GrammarTeacher · 29/11/2018 06:08

Just watched the video on the BBC. The boy who did the assaulting was so much bigger! And the footage of his sister that's been shown is awful too. What the hell is happening at that school?

SoCockneyItHurts · 29/11/2018 06:25

Sad yes. But why has over £100,000 been raised for the family?

Chocolala · 29/11/2018 06:26

Well. The school, council et al are all making excellent ‘we don’t condone this behaviour’ statements. Wonder if they bothered to actually take any action until this surfaced though.

StoorieHoose · 29/11/2018 06:28

While heartbreaking for the Syrian family, many many children face bullying every single day it doesn’t take long to find videos of similar instances on social media

GrammarTeacher · 29/11/2018 06:37

And I'm as angered by those. Most of the other viral bullying videos I've come across have been off school sites. It shocks me hugely that both these events occurred on school grounds.

HRTpatch · 29/11/2018 06:39

The perpetrator's whole family are a bunch of racist scum. Mother in court for racial abuse and brother member of EDL and jailed for assault

No wonder Tommy Robinson, or whatever he calls himself, and his EDL mob are supporting the kid, they are a bunch of bullies themselves. The fact that the motivation is racist is why this has made the news, because racism is, rightly, viewed as unacceptable still by a vocal majority, however since Brexit it's less frowned on by some. Butt bullying goes on in every school, every day unheard. The problem is the families who raise chips in toxic environments and the schools that are then often to scared to challenge them so instead ignore, and in some cases foster an environment that actively encourages bullying. All too often it's no loss to the school if one victim leaves, but a bunch of bullies is harder to get rid of. Schools duty of care should always be to the victim first and foremost, so many schools fail in this.

PebbleDashed · 30/11/2018 19:13

Bloody disgusting.
There's always been bullying in Britain's schools for any excuse they can find, but particularly these people, they've been through enough.

Britain stinks sometimes. British values, they talk about in the schools: fairness, decency, democracy, principles. Poor schools on a hiding to nothing trying to drum that in to some people. Some of it is due to Britain's inherent inequality and no-hope: some of the no-hope is due to the crap.

LetsGoFlyAKiteee · 01/12/2018 17:12

Tommy robinson spreading lies?! Well I never...

Horrible to think someone could do this to another person. And someone happily stands and film it.. Know happens often and that's just as bad. Yet there's shock from his family and Co about the backlash from it. What did he expect?!

SinisterBumFacedCat · 01/12/2018 17:39

www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2018/nov/30/syrian-boy-jamal-asks-people-not-to-attack-his-alleged-bully-huddersfield

just leaving this here for the EDL apologists...

Cappucinoextrachocolate · 04/12/2018 10:16

The question is would the "Tommy Robinson" family go to, for example, a Syrian doctor if they had medical problems? Or would they refuse to be treated by "scum"? It just makes my blood boil.

To LetsGo: I had the same reaction about someone filming, for God's sake!

GrammarTeacher · 05/12/2018 08:08

A former student of mine had a father who was a GP. This student decided not to go into medicine due to the racism his father experienced from his patients. In an area that is really struggling to recruit GPs. Wonder why?
So yes, they probably would abuse the people trying to treat them.

gordan · 08/12/2018 14:43

Bullying is disgusting and the effects are felt throughout your adulthood. However children are bullied everyday and I just can’t help feeling this has rollercoastered. It happened to go viral. There’s other videos of shocking violence on children by children. Yet there’s no funds for them. They’re saying this Syrian boy himself was a bully. And he had his arm broken surely his parents or guardians would have wanted to know what happened. Would the drs not have asked in hospital how it happened. Breaking someone’s arm is assault. Why didn't someone try And get all the facts. this money that has been raised. Will it just be given to the family. And now the other boy has had threats of violence against him and his young sisters and to rape his mother. Grown men driving around up their street. They are now the bullies. And why has a race element Been added. It could very well have been that it was bullying but not based on race or religion. I just wish all facts had been established. The Syrian boys face now splashed in the papers. He’s got no privacy

GrammarTeacher · 08/12/2018 14:48

Why has a race element been added? Because there is one. And his family have convictions from racially aggravated crime. And the appeal has been closed, funds are being used for the family to move and to set up a charitable foundation.
Bullying is common in schools. Waterboarding and pushing girls to the floor because you've ripped off their headscarves? Not so much. This school needs an urgent visit from OFSTED as they are failing in their safeguarding duty.
