Awful event. Senseless hatred.Sad

Mr Trump added that the incident had "little to do" with US gun laws. "If they had protection inside, maybe it could have been a different situation," he said.

Victim blaming.

Ironic thing is 3 armed police where also shot. Professionals who do this day in day out and have had the best training. Still got shot. So I am insure what trump thinks have a go harry with his gun being a once a week "security guard" would have done to protect.

So very sorry for the victims their loved ones and all those affected

It's just so depressing that despite these events and their regularity in USA they cling to the 2nd amendment and refuse to consider even the possibility of getting rid of it!

Yet they're amendments they weren't in the original constitution and there is precedent for removal of amendments.

Also trump already calling the shooter a "maniac" - the obvious as usual trope of if the shooter was a white man they can't POSSIBLY just be a bad bastard they must be crazy!

DioneTheDiabolist · 28/10/2018 01:48

Horrifying.Sad My thoughts and prayers are with the people of Squirrel Hill Synagogue and Pittsburgh.FlowersBrew

Graphista- yes, Trump said "maniac" as he was white (and presumably a trump fanatic), he would have said "terrorist" if muslim!

The poison of virulent antisemitism. The perpetrator was shouting that all Jews should die, even after being shot himself. It makes me physically sick that such evil exists.

As for those claiming he was a Trump fan - quite the opposite is in fact the case.

Let's remember and mourn the victims, and see this for what it is: antisemitic hatred.

Hate must never win.

BrokenRocket · 28/10/2018 14:27

And his solution is to put armed guards on all places worship 🤔you couldn’t make it up.
Horrific attack those poor victims involved- just beyond belief so sad.

His posts included criticism of President Trump. Among the many anti-Semitic social media posts were comments suggesting that President Trump was surrounded by too many Jewish people. "Trump is surrounded by k", "things will stay the course," read one post on the Gab social media platform, which used a derogatory term to describe Jews. Another post, apparently intended as an insult, read: "Trump is a globalist, not a nationalist," Bowers said two days before the shooting. "There is no #MAGA as long as there is a k infestation. He said he didn't vote for Trump. Roughly four hours before the shooting, Bowers commented in a post that he did not vote for Trump*

BrokenRocket, sadly, all Jewish places of worship here in the UK, and Jewish schools, are guarded. Not armed, but high levels of security. It is very sad indeed that this is the case.

chillpizza · 29/10/2018 13:32

I didn’t know that mybeloved we have a place of worship very close to my house and I can’t say I’ve ever noticed any security. Everyone is impeccably dressed though.

MyBeloved · 29/10/2018 17:33

I can guarantee they will have security, chillipizza. It has been this way for years unfortunately.
