Was I dreaming? (another child missing)

I am 100% sure I read a small comment somewhere recently that another child had gone missing in the same area that Maddy was taken from. Can't remember the nationality now.

Maybe I dreamt this, but don't think so.. but if this was the case then why is there nothing in world news, or did the child turn up?

I am very confused, anyone put me straight please?!

Thought I heard it too - a little boy?

Iklboo · 15/06/2007 16:45

Ooh that was it. The policeman in charge of Maddy's case has been charged with assault because he attacked the mother of a Portuguese biy who had gone missing in the same area accusing her of murdering him

I find it really odd if this is the case, but I just can't seem to find anything about it! Is it because the child was not British, (was reading about Portugese parents who are upset that their Police are doing more for the Maddy case then they ever did for theirs.. eg. no pictures are shown of their children when it happened etc etc.)

Also if a child did go missing, don't parents need this knowledge about the area?

I think I read 5 lines (it was literally) in the local paper, and of course having recycled them don't have them to check!

Two (spanish) children have gone missing in Gran Canaria in the last year. Yeremi Vargas (sp?) is a little boy of about 7 who disapeared while out playing and a girl of about 12 while shopping. So sad, hope they re found.

Was in gran canaria last year..heard nothing of any missing children though

its true about the maddie case, parents of other missing children must be so frustrated that THEIR children receive almost no publicity at all compared to this british family..

paulaplumpbottom · 17/06/2007 18:01

The McCanns have been very media savy thats for sure. I imagine that in the future more parents will try to be until we all become desenitized to it

Hulababy · 17/06/2007 18:06

If this has happened in the same area then I would be very suprised to not read and hear aboout it all over our news. I think the McGanns themselves would have picked up on it, as it would add more to their own case too.

paulaplumpbottom · 17/06/2007 18:08

I'm sure the police would try to keep it quiet, they won't want any more bad publicity

This is the story I think

It happened 3 years ago, close to where Madeleine went missing. 9 year old girl.
