Sorry, X posted.

I'm not suer mum2oliver. If you want to donate money, you can do it on the find madeleiine.com website.

onlytheone · 27/05/2007 22:36

There isn't an official place to buy a yellow ribbon for Maddie. The landlady at the local pub near the square in the village where the McCanns live leaves a basket outside the war memorial for anyone to use to tie on benches/railings. As Lynette Scavo has said, I think the findmadeline.com website is the official and best place for donations. You can donate via Paypal.

Twinklemegan · 27/05/2007 22:38

I hope the money will help fund searches for ALL missing children, not just Maddie (although of course I want her to be found).

LynetteScavo · 27/05/2007 22:47

I think the money will initially be used to help the McCann family, and any excess money will be used to help find other missing children.

Don't know about any official ones, but DD bought somem yellow ribbon from a haberdashers and made some in the 'fish' shape, and used safety pins to attatch them to clothing. She gave loads out at school.

jambuttie · 28/05/2007 22:14

I read in the paper that they were doing some oficial type ones. They were going onsale in the Mcanns hometown

TwoIfBySea · 28/05/2007 22:25

Would you not rather give money to help all the lost children around the world?

Some worthwhile charities are:

UNICEF

Stop Child Trafficking

Save The Children

That way your money will go further in helping more children who don't have anyone to campaign for them.

Twinklemegan · 28/05/2007 22:39

My thoughts exactly TwoIfByTheSea

Twinklemegan · 28/05/2007 22:39

TwoIfBySea sorry.

TwoIfBySea · 28/05/2007 23:10

I've given money to both UNICEF and Save The Children for a while, really since the tsunami when I realised just how extensive their work was in helping children live better lives abroad. Just helping children live basically rather than be sold or to simply disappear into who knows what kind of hellish life.

My dts school raised over £5k for UNICEF last Christmas.

Although I do hope against all hope that this little girl is found (and there was a boy who disappeared years ago who was found after 2 months, a paedophile had taken him - it was in first magazine I think?) Anyway, I think it would be better if everyones energy was put into the wider picture and especially for all those children who have no one to look out for them.

There are official wristbands for sale through the Leicester Mercury newspaper, but they have sold out & are waiting for the next batch.

We passed through Rothley on our way to do the shopping & the square there had so many yellow ribbons tied onto every available surface, that it was quite jaw dropping. Most small towns & villages around here have yellow ribbons tied to railings ect.

The Mcanns are friends of friends,& I really hope that Maddy is found safe & well.I haven't got a ribbon on my house/car or a wristband. We did light a candle for her in church yesterday though.
