Who else was there to witness the parade?!
I spent the day at the private reception on Horseguards Parade and was filled with so much pride watching the day unfold 
Thousands of people turned out to watch the parade down the Mall (the estimate stood at 50,000!) and it was a wonderful sight to see.
The invite-only reception was attended by families of those taking part in the parade on Buckingham palace forecourt, high-ranking officers from overseas Air forces and their families, serving memebers of the RAF, and veterans - it was a privilege to spend the day with them. I sat and had a coffee with a lovely gentleman who flew in the Battle of Britain, and was in awe of him. Even at his age (I didn’t ask, but he must be in his 90’s!), he was swelling with pride, stood to attention, saluting the direction of the Palace as the National Anthem rang out.
Seeing the fly past in person was truly spectacular, and the cherry on the cake was seeing my husband march off the forecourt and into Horseguards Parade - I actually felt a bit emotional (that’s probably because I’ve not seen him for 7 weeks!), and so so proud of him
