What is likely to happen? Is this going to force TM's hand

You know I can just about believe David Davis resigned because he has principles, but this twat? Only does what serves himself. Probably hoping it’ll bring May down and he can have a crack at his only goal.... become leader then PM.

I don't understand why he didn't go for it when TM did though

Taking us through Brexit is the biggest poison chalice and a no win job.

I like Boris, but I think he's just playing politics here and trying to score points. It's fairly shitty given the circumstances. There is no deal they could agree that she wouldn't get shot down for.

borlottibeans · 09/07/2018 15:27

Last time around he'd been banking on Gove's support, then Gove stabbed him in the back and stood himself (and what a wild success that was)

I honestly think he's discredited himself too much now even in the eyes of the most Brexity Tories, but who knows what he's got set up behind the scenes.

Part of me wonders if this resignation is just in response to having to do some actual high profile and difficult work re Russia etc.

Bluntness100 · 09/07/2018 15:43

It's annoyed me a little actually. As said I used to really like him, but the Gove thing and this is just too much playing politics for my liking.

The countries political leaders should be pulling together to try to get us through this with the best deal possible. Not playing toy soldiers and fighting for power.

This will be the end for someone, and I'm sad to say I hope it's Boris and not May, I'm not a huge fan of Teresa may but it's not deniable she's got an impossible job and the last thing the country needs is People like Boris trying to secure their own political future on the back of it, whilst selling the country down the river.

I really think he may have misjudged this one also.

Funny since the election we've been told Boris should be fired, he is a buffoon and a disaster.

He resigns now Boris quitting is a disaster of biblical proportions.

He is just another minister. It doesn't matter.

So what do you guys want? For Boris to stay and behave as though it's a fantastic proposal by TM who promised us "Brexit Means Brexit"? That sly old hen has hoodwinked us all along. Her days are numbered! Well done Boris! And D Davis too! And did you see that smug twat's face - the one who stabbed Boris in the back the last time around?

Havabiscuit · 11/07/2018 03:20

“For Boris to stay and behave as though it's a fantastic proposal by TM who promised us "Brexit Means Brexit"?”

May put Brexiteers in charge of the process.

David Davis - who couldn’t be bothered to negotiate with the EU when it came to the detail. Told us he had done detailed impact assessments of the policies he was arguing for then couldn’t produce them.

Fox - supposed to do these easy, fast trade deals that countries would be lining up for within days of a vote to leave. No trade deals at all on the horizon!
All these Brexit backers in the cabinet have not been able to come up with a plan. May has a plan ( its rubbish but it’s a plan) now they are all running away and pretending it would have been marvellous if only the remainders hadn’t ruined it for them. It’s transparent posturing.

cdtaylornats · 11/07/2018 06:50

As an EU member we aren't allowed to negotiate trade deals independently.
