Politicians just resigning.

I may be incredibly naive but how can you just resign?

If I resigned I would be shit scared I’d not get another job quickly enough to pay rent and buy food. Future employers wouldn’t trust your explanation would they? They’d think you’d been sacked or were trouble.

These politicians live such expensive lives. Big houses, posh schools, flash motors and I bet they don’t look for the discounts in Aldi like I do. How the hell do you pay for all that with no job?

This David Davis bloke must be shitting himself.

They’re only resigning from their ministerial posts aren’t they? Not from being an MP.

He's still an MP and therefore still employed.

He's just resigned his Secretary of State position.

He’s resigned from his cabinet role as Brexit secretary, not from what might be considered his ‘main’ job as an MP, so while there will be some impact on his finances, it won’t be catastrophic.

Ministers get reshuffled so frequently that they'd be daft to rely on that extra £20k or so above their basic MP salary. (~£66k)
Its more of a problem when an election is called and they go from MP to unemployed overnight - I think the parties pay out a sort of insurance for a month or two.

Ah - ok - so he still has a job then. Nice to be able to take a massive pay cut though isn’t it?

They really do live in a different world to the rest of us.

I’d love to resign my job over so many principles but it’s never going to be able to happen. I’m far more likely to get sacked one of these days!
