Are you deleting Roblox?

My dd(11) is obsessed with Roblox and plays a lot with friends from school. We are considering deleting the app after reading the news yesterday about the gang rape of a young girls character but she is devastated. Just wondering if anybody else has deleted or thinking of deleting.

Nope. Monitor usage and don't play online with strangers.

I know nothing about the app but the article I read suggested you can change the settings so she can only play games aimed at 13 and under. So that might give you some peace of mind 😊

No, settings are very strict on DD. No chatting, no friend requests, etc. And her account is restricted to those appropriate for under 13s

No I have my doubts about that storey. The mums video was weird and her screenshots showed nothing like she described.

We did ages ago. It's too open IMO for children, OK for teens (but they tend to be bored of it). Nice bonus is DS is no longer displaying obsessive, addictive behaviour towards the internet.

DS was devastated at first but quickly got over it and now doesn't even miss it. He's 9. I think we banned it over a year ago. But we have a private Minecraft server for him where he can play with school friends, so he's not completely banned from online play, and we let him play .io games (but not fortnite).

The child filter settings are of no use when nobody is monitoring what is marked as being for under 13s. This is the same for YouTube Kids, BTW - don't rely on parental controls to keep your kids safe, you need to be aware of what they are consuming when they are little, and have conversations with them about what they are consuming when they are older.
