Not keen on Ed sheeran but good on him

Apparently an anti abortion group plan to use one o his songs in an advert and he is making it clear he's not happy.
I don't understand though, can't he refuse entirely?

Depends who owns the song.

I'm not sure Ed is as much of a friend to women generally as he like to make out but this is decent.

Perhaps he could donate the royalties he gets from the song to a pro-abortion group.
