Hideous hideous disease.

Slartybartfast · 10/05/2018 07:09

sorry for you and your dh op Thanks

SoupDragon · 10/05/2018 07:14

Oh, how sad :( I guess that explains why she came back to EE to kill off her character.

Flowers for you OP. It’s a cruel, nasty disease.

ScreamingValenta · 10/05/2018 07:30

How sad. It must have been a very difficult interview for Scott to give. I hope Dame Barbara can continue to lead a happy life for as long as possible.

MadisonAvenue · 10/05/2018 09:21

How very sad, it's an horribly cruel disease.

My father in law had early onset and my husband worries terribly that it's his fate too which isn't helped by my mother in law frequently mentioning that his grandfather also had it.

Slightly on subject, it annoys me so much that there are people who seem to think it's acceptable to make jokes about Alzheimer's. It's a disease that's just as horrendous as cancer yet no one jokes about that.

IRefuseToAgree · 10/05/2018 11:43

It's always sad to hear of people suffering from this. Sad

InsomniacAnonymous · 10/05/2018 12:57

Slartybartfast it's the OP's friend's DP who has it, not her own.

Timefortea99 · 10/05/2018 14:35

Apparently people in showbiz have known for a few years but now it is harder to hide from the general public who approach her all the time. Her husband wants to continue to take her out as she still enjoys that but she has suddenly declined after the tablets that slightly delayed the illness have lost their efficacy and she can appear confused. So, they have done a brave and sensible thing by speaking out. She is lucky to have him in her corner. Must be a strain for him, and quite a release to talk about it.

MrsJayy · 10/05/2018 14:39

It is such a horrible disease my Gran had it my Aunt has it and I think another Aunt might be in the early stages Sad Barbara must be advanced for her husband to go to the paper about such a shame.

concretesieve · 10/05/2018 14:43

Oh - I'm sorry to read this Flowers

dayinlifeof · 10/05/2018 14:48

Both my parents have it, one is advanced and the other is in the early stages of it. it's harder with the one in the early stages because she's getting annoyed with people who haven't done something that she's told them not to do.

Flowers for anybody dealing with it.

Actress Jill Gascoyne (The Gentle Touch) was diagnosed with Alzheimers a few years ago

CoolCarrie · 11/05/2018 13:17

I think there is someone else who was in the public eye in the “Morning” who has the same condition.

SoupDragon · 11/05/2018 13:50

Prunella Scales has it too.

Timefortea99 · 11/05/2018 14:15

Alfred Molina said that his wife, who is in a nursing home in US, no longer recognises him. He is working here now, simply becsuse he no longer has any reason to stay so close to her now she dorsn’t know who he is. He has not left her but he is throwing himself into work. Really sad.
