Press Conference EAR/ONS - Possibly Caught

Ear/Ons is an American man who raped over 50 women and girls and murdered 10 people. The police have scheduled a press conference for 8pm tonight as they have a suspect in custody who is reportedly a DNA match for DNA taken at the scenes of the murders.
This is a case that many thought would never be solved. It would be brilliant if his victims who are still alive, and relatives and friends of those murdered, finally got justice.

He is also sometimes called the Golden State Killer. It has always struck me as strange that although he is a serial killer, the public awareness of home seems to be really low. I hope for the sake of his victims, relatives and friends, that this is not a false alarm. But I suspect the police would not have said anything publicly unless they were 100% sure of the DNA match.

I never heard of him before, I was born early 80s. Just read about him, horrifying. Hope they have the right person.

This will be big news in the coming days. He was a man who deliberately prolonged the suffering of his victims. Most people thought he would never be caught. So glad people will hopefully finally get justice.

Saw this on reddit earlier! Really thought he'd never be caught, and if so it wouldn't be until after he died.
He was apparently a police officer who was fired for shoplifting dog repellent and a hammer, a month or so after he was fired seems to be when he escalated to murder.
What a relief for his victims

Yes he has now been officially named as Joseph DeAngelo. Sadly he has 3 daughters. It must be awful to discover your father has been charged with a crime like this.

How awful for them, I wonder if that's why he stopped. I'll be waiting for the press realise later I wonder if there's other crimes he'll confess to for a plea deal. Either way he'll die behind bars if he's in his 70s now.

if its anything to do with a "niece" of his then i will be amazed!

In a statement the police said to NBC, that the arrest followed a tip from a member of the public, that happened as a result of the recent book and documentary.
