I've been watching the Alfie Evans story on the news and I tried to find out the reasons as to why the hospital won't let him go to Italy, is it because of the cost, further suffering to Alfie, or another reason?

Because it's not in his best interest.

There are a number of threads on this case, all looking at this issue. Maybe have a read of one of them as it might answer your questions. Can't do links on my phone.

They are extremely long them posts and I can't make heads or tails of it so it's because they think he is suffering too much that they want to switch the machines off? Whose paying for the legal stuff by the way, is the nhs paying a lot for all the court appeals etc?

Because the court have decided it is in Alfie Evans best interests to stay where he is. The medical staff now have no choice but to obey the orders of the court.

Why you are posting this is beyond me. You know the answer as the judges and the doctors have all told you many times.

Because there is that much extra stuff going on like protestors storming hospital which is so inconsiderate and uncalled for that it's difficult to find out what actually was the reasons for and against, anyways it's too late now and Alfie will hopefully be able to pass in peace

As a basic summing up, reading this thread posted by a doctor on Twitter today. It explains it really clearly:
