So sad to read about this young mum and her struggle with depression and illness.

She felt ‘pressured’ into finding work and the risk of losing benefits played on her mind.

The system is failing too many people. The problems need addressing we can’t turn our backs and fail yet more people. Try imagining being sanctioned whereby they take every single penny from you, or during the changeover when again you are left penniless we all still have debts to pay, we all have to eat and for a lot of people they also have children to support.

The district's foodbank distributed 25 per cent more emergency food parcels last year than in the previous 12 months, new figures have revealed.

Trussell Trust’s Braintree Area Foodbank gave out 1,466 parcels between April 1, 2017 and March 31, 2018, compared with 1,150 the previous year.

Out of this number, 1,283 - or more than 87 per cent - were distributed to families with children.

Foodbank bosses believe this increase is down to issues with the switch to the Government’s Universal Credit benefits system, which was rolled out in October.

This Government are despicable, my own son has always worked hard, never has had to have medication for depression and feeling suicidal due to Universal credit failings, i had to go to see if he was ok, after he rang me while having a panic attack, wondering how he is going to manage signed on, and is now ill, with various health problems, he is having almost £50 a ,month taken from his UC which are supposed to be overpayment of tax credits,
This is just out of order, tax credits say its been handed over tpo UC ,
I mean £50 a month plus other bi;lls including £30 for warden costs, and other usual bills
His income is £73 a week, ,he is worrying he is going to lose his flat,
How the people who thought this up can sleep i dont know
Its time they were taken to court,
Those poor men, and the poor little boy of that young girl, now motherless,

350 a month, plus or

*should say never signed on or been without work
Ignore the £350 at the bottom, dont know what happened there, should have said £50 anyway *
