Horrified as anyone at the prospect of British people being sent back to Jamaica because they didnt come in on their own passports, but on their parents'.
But David Lammy has tweeted a screenshot of a Home Office document about how deportees should behave when "coming home to Jamaica". Without context, and in the current situation, it looks suspiciously like the govt is intent on the process. Not surprisingly there is a shitstorm on twitter about it.
Two google clicks take you to the Gov.uk website which has travel advice for 229 countries. The Jamaican entry has a section called Coming Home, and was compiled with info from local organisations and charities concerned with the resettlement and rehabilitation of deported criminals.
Deported criminals are usually associated with drug gangs or dealing. They are rehabilitate in Jamaica and usually settle into lawful life. This guide was produced (in 2013, updated in 2015) to help them and has nothing at all to do with the 'Windrush generation'.
I am am no Tory supporter but am really cross that this is being spun into a completely unjustified stick to beat them with. It makes Labour look desperate and slightly unhinged!
