americantrish · 10/05/2007 12:00

it's about time! he's long overdue...not that i think G.B. is going to be any better though.

nearlythere · 10/05/2007 12:02

Tigana · 10/05/2007 12:03

quietmouse · 10/05/2007 12:09

27th June

nogoes · 10/05/2007 12:10

Just listening to it now. I think he actually believes his own bullshit.

nearlythere · 10/05/2007 12:13

thought it'd be sooner than that!

SoapOnARope · 10/05/2007 12:15

he's giving himself a lengthy pat on the back.

I think they'll have their tissues out at the end.

homemama · 10/05/2007 12:26

Actually I think it was a good speech. He's always accepted the notion of 'the buck stops here' which many PMs don't.

The iraq war is a terrible legacy and in many ways it's a shame that he'll be remembered mainly for that.

The war aside (and my brother and BIL are serving out there) I think he's left the country in far better nick than he found it.

BecauseImWorthIt · 10/05/2007 12:30

I agree, homemama

The Iraq war is a terrible legacy and has overshadowed many of the things that this government has achieved.

Just one very small example - ds1 school had £9 million spent on it, as did the other big secondary school near us. On each school. It has had a huge impact on the quality of the school by providing fantastic facilities for them.

SoapOnARope · 10/05/2007 12:31

Ian Hislop

what a guy!

southeastastra · 10/05/2007 12:31

well i have looked back 10 years and was definitely better off then. our council tax was £80 and is now £135

UCM · 10/05/2007 12:32

Good speech..yes you have upped public spending loads tone, you DID lead us into an unwanted war though and most city areas are no go areas, drugs are rife, gun crime has increased 100 times....... turn the light out, theres a love.

oliveoil · 10/05/2007 12:32

Will he have time to fix his teeth now?

utter disgrace imo

PenelopePitstops · 10/05/2007 12:32

long overdue, tissues at the end were barf inducing, the believe all his crap, and as for his dog ugly wife well..

SoapOnARope · 10/05/2007 12:33

"fancy ending on "this is the greatest nation on earth!" it's 'God Bless America' ......."

PenelopePitstops · 10/05/2007 12:34

slightly aside, will he stay as an MP or is that the end?

SoapOnARope · 10/05/2007 12:34

Ian: He said 'I did what I thought was right' - well of course, as Prime Minister that's what we expect you to do!

ha ha!

PeachyChocolateEClair · 10/05/2007 12:35

We're better of now though by a long way (although we weren't together we were both unemployed a decade ago actually)

I don't vote Labour but War aside (and I do think he genuinely believed it was right even though it clearly wasn't) he's been good for thei Country. I don't think GB will be bad either, but we shall see. Want to judge on what he does rather than what he might posibly do.

PeachyChocolateEClair · 10/05/2007 12:35

Penelop is the qwife comment really necessary?

UCM · 10/05/2007 12:37

Win double - Prescott going too

PenelopePitstops · 10/05/2007 12:39

peachy, probably not, i just have an avid dislike of her
