I was dreading that the first response would be "I can't see what's racist about it...."

Not that I would ever vote for that bunch of twats but if you were familiar with the massive overdevelopment of the borough you may have similar thoughts even if you didn't voice them. Of course the leafy wards this area is for don't get the said development on their doorstep, that's for the shitty parts across the a127, and in the town centre where you can spend 45 minutes trying to get a parking space at the hospital because what was a car park serving said hospital is now a plot for 600 homes.

Gems include "Havering ruled by Mayor Khan", a reference to new arrivals in Havering bringing a "London crime wave" and how Havering will resemble boroughs like Hackney and Newham rather than a "traditional part of Essex".

Message is pretty clear.

Racism is now acceptable in the UK, and is getting more so. Look at the headlines the Daily Mail and Express get away with. Also, I think the Tory party in general is much more racist them Labour, they just get away with it though, look at some of the things Boris Johnson has said.

The most racist thing was the comment by EnbyDee.

People don't want city people moving in. In the 60s the small village I lived in had a housing estate tacked on to it and filled up with displaced Glaswegians. We didn't like them, they didn't like us. Crime and violence went up.

Traditional part of Essex? "Traditional Essex" is probably north of Chelmsford. Havering is London overspill and has been for decades. It's also 80% plus white.

So many people who live in havering always moan they moved there as east London "changed" wink wink. Horrid attitudes.

Antislut - can you really not see?! They're saying they don't want a 'foreigner' (British born Sadiq Khan) ruling over them, and they don't want their white area turned in to a (God forbid!) ethnically diverse area like some inner London boroughs.

Oh, and some nonsense about the Union Jack.

I have lived in multi cultural Redbridge all my life and my children went to a school reflecting this. Havering is just down the road and this is where my first placement was. On my first day stepping in to assembly I was taken aback by how white the school intake was compared to my local school 10 minutes away. It wasn’t like a London school at all.

@whatevertakesyourfancy where does it say foreigner. Or anything about ethnicity. Is it racist to not want mass immigration into your local area. Especially if it's a small town with limited resources/budget.

Which part about conservative do you not understand. They don't want massive change forced on them by a Labour council.

It is only racist if you are determined to read anything produced by the conservatives which criticises Sadiq Khan as being so.

Many in havering have views that make farage look left wing
