Beeb are reporting that he killed a hostage but they freed the others and he just has a police officer hostage.

TheQueef · 23/03/2018 11:56

Updated to 2 dead and 12 wounded.

Something going on in London too.

A suspicious van, a tube station closed.
The live reporting is jumbled but Shepherds Bush.

Flomper · 23/03/2018 12:35

My in laws live in Carcassonne so this is particularly worrying. No one can get hold of them, but that's not unusual.

TheQueef · 23/03/2018 12:46

Sorry to hear that Flomp, hope it's nothing.

The reports seem to suggest two related attacks in Carcassonne it reads like he attacked police then went into the supermarket.

Flomper · 23/03/2018 12:52

Im sure they're fine, what are the chances. Its just strange being somewhere you know well, particularly as it is so quiet and sleepy there, you just wouldn't think it. Hope they get all the hostages out.

TheQueef · 23/03/2018 12:54

It's not the kind of worry you expect for nipping down the stores.

They have the entire French forces there by the look of it so hopefully no more get hurt.

StealthPolarBear · 23/03/2018 14:46

Three dead. Does that include the suspect I wonder

OP posts:
zimbomaman · 23/03/2018 16:22

No the suspect isn't included. He stole a car at gunpoint, killing one of the people in the car. He then shot at the gendarmes who were on their way back to work after a run. One of them was seriously injured. He then drove to the supermarket and killed two people there. He was 'known' to the authorities. Another sad day in France.

RockyBayEve · 23/03/2018 20:24

Was he a Quaker terrorist?

or Buddhist?

outabout · 23/03/2018 20:35

The suspect has been shot dead but I think the police have another suspect/accomplice.16 injured, and I think 3 + the attacker died. Attacker was wanting the culprit from the Paris attack a year or so ago released.

bluetongue · 24/03/2018 06:25

Just read that the police officer has died Sad

MsRagnell · 24/03/2018 09:41

Arnaud Beltrame is a true hero in an age when that word is usually misapplied.

A true hero.

Steamcloud · 24/03/2018 09:47

RIP Sad

zimbomaman · 24/03/2018 09:48

Arnaud Beltrame, the gendarme who volunteered to take the place of the last hostage, is a true hero. What bravery. RIP.

TheQueef · 24/03/2018 10:43

What a man.
R.I.P. Mr Beltrame and the others.

Ishouldntbesolucky · 24/03/2018 11:34

Yes, incredibly brave man. The amount of courage it must take to just swap places like that. It's just unimaginable. What a truly selfless hero.
