Police believe five of the six people killed had been on a stag weekend.
So many lives blighted and is there now a bride somewhere without a bridegroom.

I believe one person survived, but there are no details regarding identity.

Dreadful pictures shown on the news where it looks as though all those killed were in the cab of a recovery van which somehow or other ploughed into the back of a lorry.

DoorstoManual · 07/05/2007 16:27

And as DH has just pointed out, they were probably out that late because they did not want to stay over.

It's awful. I dread driving on that motorway because it is so heavily used by lorries. There was a fatal accident last year involving a car and a lorry at jct 6. I wish there was a separate road for lorries because once you hit one you've pretty much had it. Poor families/friends

Freckle · 07/05/2007 16:35

The news report stated that they were returning from a stag weekend, so they had obviously been away for a couple of days.

DoorstoManual · 07/05/2007 16:37

Do you know Freckle that bit went straight past me.

So very sad.

True. At least they probably had a wild weekend first.

makkapakka · 07/05/2007 16:46

where was it? footage looke like Reigate jnctn

Gameboy · 07/05/2007 16:47

between J 9 and 8 anti-clockwise, so yes, towards Reigate. Horrible.

Boco · 07/05/2007 16:48

Oh dear, when did this happen?

Waiting for dp and dd to arrive home from Bristol, a 5 hour drive, all motorway, some on M25. I hate it! I want them to come home NOW!

SherlockLGJ · 07/05/2007 16:49

Two o' clock this morning Boco.

makkapakka · 07/05/2007 16:51

coming down the hill, I bet.

God I drive on it so much and loathe it. drove that bit at midnight last night. those poor soulds, and one of them about to get married, tragic.

newlifenewname · 07/05/2007 16:52

Groom survived.

I wrry more about the car drivers on the M25 than the lorries.

Boco · 07/05/2007 16:52

This weekend seem so full of bad news and people feeling sad.

tortoiseSHELL · 07/05/2007 16:53

Horrible accident. According to the BBC the groom was not involved in the accident.

makkapakka · 07/05/2007 16:55

I worry about European lorries - blind spots.

LucyJones · 07/05/2007 16:55

God, I feel so awful for the bride and groom (as well as the families obviously). Hw will they be able to have a happy wedding after this? Al they must be thinking is 'if we hadn't been getting married, there wouldn't have been a stag weekend' etc etc
How horrendous must that feel?

SherlockLGJ · 07/05/2007 16:57

When I was younger my BF and three others died in dreadful car crash. It left a very deep mark on the community for a very long time.

LIZS · 07/05/2007 17:04

Shocking loss of life . I noticed that we had an unusual amount of traffic going past us first thing , then dh switched on the news and heard about this and that the junction was shut.

oh, Harman - so sorry I missed your post. how dreadful, am dreadfully sorry for you. that motorway is leathal.

misdee · 07/05/2007 17:50

that motorway is lethal. have ever driven that stretch, but battle the m25 on a daily basis when dh is in harefield. have seen many overturned cars, bashed cars on hard shoulders, motorcycles on fire on m25 in the 18months since i passed my test.

thoughts and prayers to all those that have lost loved ones on the roads

dinny · 07/05/2007 17:51

the bit it looks like it happened on is a really big downward hill. hate driving it, always feel car could go out of control.

hate it - wish speed limit was 50, everyone drives so fast on it.
