Dorchester men's night

So the "gentlemen's " evening is being exposed as an opportunity for wealthy, most likely married men to flash the cash and take advantage of women. But as someone who wasn't invited to the above and has never after a Hooters bar, how do they differ and will the likes of Hooters now be scrutinised?

Hooters being American isn't really covered.

Knaffedoff · 25/01/2018 12:49

Thanks for replying.

Sorry I don't understand, do the staff (presumably British) not get treated similarly ? Are hooters ok???

I don't think Hooters is in any trouble. I don't think we'll see Britain's strip bars or "massage parlours" being closed any time soon either.

I think with the President's Club story, it's the combination of the government ministers and famous figure in entertainment, politics and business coming together to raise money for children's hospitals and treating women that way which has got people's attention. I'm not sure why everyone's so shocked, tbh. Maybe they thought only unsuccessful men could treat women badly or something.

Hooters is fucking grim, though, since you asked.

Hooters you know as an employee what you are signing up for.

The presidents club was word of mouth about what was happening.

Presidents club the females had to sign none disclosures. Hooters don’t.

Presidents club - they were timed when going to the toilet. Hooters not.

Hooters the females can quit at any time. Presidents club not.

There’s more but that’s what I can recall from the top of my head

cdtaylornats · 25/01/2018 15:11

As far as I know there is one Hooters in the UK.

theaveragewife · 25/01/2018 15:18

I thought it had closed down in the UK? Oh no - just googled, still one in Nottingham. I wish TRAs would petition to be Hooters waitresses.

Crunched · 25/01/2018 15:28

I think there may be 3 Hooters in UK, Nottingham, Bristol and London. They are (well, the Nottingham and the Orlando branch) very family friendly with the, admittedly 90% female staff, pleasant and dressed similarly to many other similar bar/fast food establishments.
Have to say it was only when I mentioned I had been, that a friend pointed out what the name and the concept of the place was and I was like Blush and haven't been back, but as it has been mentioned on this thread, I felt I should say the staff were fabulous to me and my family.

Theresnonamesleft · 25/01/2018 15:31

Mmm wonder how the tra’s On benefits would react if they were sent to places
Like hooters for a job.

cdtaylornats · 25/01/2018 15:32

Should we be banning hen parties while we are about it?

Julie8008 · 26/01/2018 00:52

So far the only people complaining about the 'event' have been a few reporters. And despite having cameras with them they failed to get a single incident on film.

The only female hostess on TV that was actually there was denying the headlines. So far it sounds like the reporters are exaggerating to get a story. Where is the evidence?

cdtaylornats · 26/01/2018 03:52

Wouldn't have been much of a story if all that was reported was "everything went well".

And now it's over - no doubt the reporter is pleased with herself that every year from now on less money will go to charity.

Cherrycokewinning · 26/01/2018 03:59

You really think they had to make up a group of sexist pigs treating young women like meat? The only surprising thing is that so many people are taking it seriously as a story rather than protesting about how the little sluts deserve it for taking the money

And yes I think hooted is disgusting and has no place in 2018. No skin off my nose if it closes down, it will send the message that you can’t fill an establishment with young hot women and use sexism to make money

Where are the hundreds of women (not reporters) lining up to report sexual assault? The only people saying there was sexual assault were the reporters, who had no video footage to back up their claims, despite having cameras with them and aren't even claiming it happened to them.

Cherrycokewinning · 26/01/2018 09:30

Where did anyone say a sexual assault occurred? I didn’t.
