\link{http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk/6594439.stm\Church of England rsponsible for yet more rapes

But it's all right, honest. No doubt the CoE will say "sorry".
Of course Bishop David Wilcox who smugly talks of acting in the "best interests of the church", will walk free. The police won't even interview him, let alone bang him up.

David Wilcox is worse than any paedophile. Rather than annoy his friends, he covers up for rapists.

Would any other group get away with being accomplices ?
In other threads supporters of the CoE smugly talk of child rape as a purely Catholic issue. They know that to be false, and come Sunday will put their hands in their pockets and fund the rape of children.

or peverting the course of jsutice ( not htat he has per se)

Marina · 26/04/2007 16:31

Er, if the CPS and the police won't question David Wilcox or the others involved in this cover-up, that's not the fault of the C of E. Established church, yes - controlling the police and the criminal justice system, no.

Marina · 26/04/2007 16:32

Has he not porcupine? Perverted the course of justice? Surely Wilcox should have just gone to the police when he first became away of Halliday's crimes?

Porcupine · 26/04/2007 16:32

realy not.
ime.

has he broken a law?

Porcupine · 26/04/2007 16:33

DominiConnor · 26/04/2007 16:34

Frankly the attempt to "out" me as a victim of child abuse says more about Christians than me.
I was never sexually abused, in case anyone cares.
Fannyannie, the CoE has lots of things it can sell, it is probably the biggest landowner in Britain, and owns a lot of gold and artworks.

FiveFingeredFiend · 26/04/2007 16:35

There is nothing for it. Saying sorry privetely is not good enough. Saying sorry in the media, not good enough.

Good deeds, not good enough quite frankly, anything good the church is doing and anyone they help should be negated instantly.

The church should never try to ever do anything good in the future becuase its history is so appauling.

Porcupine · 26/04/2007 16:35

~DC - I can assure that MY local church has nothing of value to sell - and I ask again - WHO would get the money if they did have anything???

And this "hold rank and file Christians responsible" sounds like Mugabe holding Tony Blair and the rest of UK "responsible" for the current problems in his country.

And as for "If this was a local social services department, there would be arrests, seizures of records and sackings. " well while not a sexual abuse case - the Social Worker who was responsible for the care of Victoria Climbie was sacked..........but the given her job back and allowed to work with children again after a tribunal ruled in her favour.

And I'm sure that isn't an isolated case.......

Porcupine · 26/04/2007 16:56

the cof e has a lto of money tied up in land
belive oyu me

kimi · 26/04/2007 16:56

DC I think it highly unfair to say that come Sunday will put their hands in their pockets and fund the rape of children.

Any one sexually abusing a child be they a priest, a bus driver or the child's own father should be hung in my opinion , but as we are not allowed to hang these vile perverts we have to look to the courts to dish out the slap on the wrists and tag.

It is wrong to accuse all C of E Christians of aiding and abetting the few sick perverts in the church, we all know they are there and we all know the should be punished and any sort of cover up is wrong.

If someone has perverted the coarse of justice then yes they too must be punished.
Yes David Wilcox and anyone else who thinks it is the best interest of anyone to cover these things up or not report them is wrong, we can all see that.

There are bad people in all walks of life, you can't say everyone in the church of England is bad no more then you can say all Muslims are all terrorist, or all black people mug and shoot you to buy drugs.
Small minded people like you do so much harm with all your hate.

Porcupine · 26/04/2007 16:57

dc you are eover exaggerating to a huge amount.

ruty · 26/04/2007 17:17

eh? have i missed something? Who is trying to 'out' DC as a victim of abuse? I remember it happened once on another thread, i think it was custy, and she apologized. It is palpably obvious that DC is much more vicious [and less logical] about the church than on any other subject and paedophilia in the church is something he talks about quite often. I find it laughable that you can't correct or question any statement he makes and suggest that he has a subjective hatred of the church without being of accused of trying to out him as a victim of abuse.

Porcupine · 26/04/2007 17:18

ok hes not but he is strangely obsessed wiht this isue
yes all of us read it and think god htats terrible
btu dont harp on about it

ruty · 26/04/2007 17:19

i agree with your post of 16.09.41 Aloha.

ruty · 26/04/2007 17:20

it is not harping on. It is right to be outraged at this cover up. i just find it odd that he is so selective in his outrage.

Porcupine · 26/04/2007 17:24

me too

DominiConnor · 26/04/2007 17:27

Porcupine, there are several serious criminal laws broken by senior churchmen.
First there is perverting the course of justice. Also they were an accessory after the fact by not reporting serious crimes.

They talked to the parents about it, which adds conspiracy to the mix.

Also it would be very challenging not to lie in various ways. Did they give an employment reference ? That may sound silly, but I'm a headhunter and quite often I taken references from people who've told me that they were sacked, yet their boss tells me they were OK.

Insurance is also an issue. Most insurance asks questions about possible claims, and it's criminal to lie in this way. Did they tell their insurers ? Hard to believe they did.

omg - is this still going on?

DC - what is the reaction you're hoping to get from everyone? Do you want us to stop believeing in whatever faith we choose to be?
I just wonder, considering the debate keeps going round and round....

I'll check in in 2 hours time to see you're still at it, I suppose

kimi · 26/04/2007 17:33

Did you ever meet a conspiracy theary you did'ent like .
