Think one person misunderstood Angelina Jolie's explanation and got everyone else on Twitter to hyperbolically react? Its the child who snatches the money, the director then pretends to catch them
child stealing and the child has to make up a lie about why they stole the money.

A very cruel game to play with impoverished children where even a small amount of money can change a child's life.

Either way, it is cruel and unnecessary to put children from difficult backgrounds through this kind of stuff.

Even if it's not as bad as it sounds, they were still encouraging children who've had tough lives to cough up their trauma on demand, for a film part, maybe. I hope that they did something financial for the ones who auditioned and were unsuccessful. Awful to vomit up your pain only to have rich white people say 'thanks but no thanks'.

Yes well along with some dubious parenting and international child adoption practices, it isn't a massive surprise.
