Don't know if anyone else has started a new thread .

OP posts:
StayAChild · 28/07/2017 11:48

I have read every one of these heartbreaking threads. Thank you all for your comments, links and personal painful stories Flowers. It has been a sad haven in a world where almost every report I've read on this case is filled with damaging errors and unfair spin.

My body physically hurts for Charlie and his parents. I wish there was something we could do to ease their pain. They have fought to the bitter end for their precious baby. Sad

JaneEyre oh yes...Stars..very special things.
''We are stardust/we are golden'' lyrics from an old Joni Mitchell song .
Stars..you can choose a specific one to remind you of a beloved person, maybe one that is visible at a meaningful time
The stars will change position throughout the year of course.

No need to ''buy'' a star. Some online sites ''sell'' them, which is a bit odd it only benefits the seller ..Stars aren't 'real estate' , we can have no ownership over them :)

stoprightnow - can you please stop taking a pop at Venus. She expressed a view slightly different to the collective wisdom here - and you would like to block her. This isn't the CA Facebook page!

Stoprightnowplease · 28/07/2017 11:53

Aridane, no she attacked me and said I had 'jovially' linked a thread about Wilf which was nasty.

Then another poster repeated the comment.

Completely unnecessary and twisting the situation.

Yes, I do wish that there was a block option on here, some people can be so horrible.

Not sure if this link has already been posted:

Thank you so much to those of you posting about your own grief. My heart breaks for you.

GabsAlot · 28/07/2017 11:56

any legal/doctors here

can a case of a patient be discussed aftr their pasing by the hpsital?

oakleaffy · 28/07/2017 12:00

Ellie The Independent article is good, IMHO, but the comments below show how the people will never see eye to eye on this case.
Hirano I feel was hugely pivotal in this- promising rainbows in a storm-
Had it not been for Hirano, this case would never have been in the public eye, and ultimately a load of suffering would have been avoided.
Hope Hirano examines other patients in future before making offers to treat them.

Aridane · 28/07/2017 12:04

I was wondering that, gabsLot. I would hope not- though understand why you are asking the question

Enchantedflamingo · 28/07/2017 12:09

I might not have phrased it quite like venus did, but I absolutely agree with the sentiment.

There will always be different opinions.

Stoprightnowplease · 28/07/2017 12:15

Well the crux of it is 'how you phrase it'.

It's probably better to see the good in things rather than assume the worse, especially if you are criticising what others do in the name of defending decent behaviour.

Enchantedflamingo · 28/07/2017 12:25

It didn't come across as especially rude stop. It may be better to draw a line now.

Beingrippedoff · 28/07/2017 12:26

Emotions are high for everyone on the thread, for lots of reasons. Sometimes it's better to take a step back if it's getting too personal or too much, rather than getting angry.

SolomanDaisy · 28/07/2017 12:27

The data protection act only applies to living people. I don't know if there's anything more specific about medical issues.

Aridane · 28/07/2017 12:32

I was wondering about the medical wethics bit

Stoprightnowplease · 28/07/2017 12:33

Enchantedflamingo, indeed, so you keep bringing it up.

Aridane · 28/07/2017 12:37

gabsalot - this is quite interesting - www.gmc-uk.org/Confidentiality___Responding_to_criticism_in_the_media.pdf_70062408.pdf

ChattyLion · 28/07/2017 12:38

Flowers to all on this thread who've had losses and hard times.
Nellie what lovely news. Great to hear that.

MontyPythonsFlyingFuck · 28/07/2017 12:39

There's an absolutely heartbreaking video on the CA page of Connie singing. She has a lovely voice, but her face is so gaunt and drawn.

Nateismine · 28/07/2017 12:39

I have followed all the threads with interest and found it very thought provoking. I am delurking to ask a question as it is troubling me.
Do you think the judicial process really looked after Charlie's interests? I feel that his 'suffering' should have been stopped a long time ago.
I know that if I ever was so emotionally damaged that I wouldn't accept medical facts, then I would have wanted someone to step in sooner.

teainbed · 28/07/2017 12:40

@GabsAlot in what context? Do you mean publicly? It would be very common to discuss and debrief within the hospital for teaching purposes.

Aridane · 28/07/2017 12:40

Doesn't look like death lifts doctors obligations of confidentiality - www.gmc-uk.org/Confidentiality_good_practice_in_handling_patient_information___English_0417.pdf_70080105.pdf

but then this is the results of a 5 minutes internet search

GabsAlot · 28/07/2017 12:43

thanks all

intrsting ari still not sure about when thyve passed

GabsAlot · 28/07/2017 12:45

sorry x post thanks ari

ChattyLion · 28/07/2017 12:47

Dr-patient confidentiality still applies after a patient has died.
As a doctor you can share some limited info about the deceased patient to family members or give access to the patient's medical records for some specific purposes. The GMC gives guidance on this.
