Anyone else from North Kensington? Grenfell Tower

I live just by the telle-tubby park. Is there anyone else on mumsnet that lives in the W10 area?
My friend lives in the opposite tower and they still don't have fire alarms.
My mother in law has a fire escape that is locked and TMO are telling her to get a locksmith instead of giving her a key.
I feel so angry.
They way TMO and the council treat people like shit is something that you won't believe unless you have experienced it.
They just want to move everyone out of the area.
A few months ago that offered me £1000 to move out of the area ?!
Cece from the overcrowding team at RBKC told me off the record that they want to move people out of the area.
THE VICTIMS ARE NOT GETTING THE DONATIONS

People are going down to Grenfell tower and taking smiling selfies like it is a tourist attraction Wtf.

I work in a nursery that stayed open on Wednesday and all day I heard helicopters going back in forth. We thought they were helping the people but they were just giving them false hope, taking pics and then flying off.

There was a guy who knock on 17 flights worth of doors and the press didn't want to interview him. He should get a medal.

People are crying in the street.

Yes, I have seen people taking pics outside the building, smiling for insta and then walking off.
I have also dealt with the town hall on many occasions and echo that they treat ordinary people like shit.
So many people I know are dead and the government are not realising numbers.
I don't even want to go to work tomorrow. I work full time 40 hours a week in a nursery for minimum wage looking after wealthy peoples children and barely see my own, what am I doing it for.
There has always been a slight tension in this area but everyone got on.
In recent years though, Golborne road has changed beyond recognition and people outside the new cafes look at us with a "what are you doing here" face.
Also I went 2 months without a boiler waiting for TMO to fix it and my ceilings were dripping wet with condensation and they told me I just needed to use special paint.
Unless you live here and have dealt with them , then you wont understand.
My mum lives in a council house in Essex and things get sorted straight away.
This is so fucked.
They cannot deny that they have treated u like shit.
I wrote to my MP on many occasions and they did fuck all.
Only now since the 70's has a Labour MP been voted in and then this happens and I see people writing, well it has a Labour MP, yes since last fucking week.

I feel like they were just waiting for something else to happen to push it out of the news. And now it has. Sad

I'm not from North Kensington but if the gap between the rich and poor is getting wider everything, I can only imagine how bad it is when there is such an obvious divide.

It sounds like some members of the council are using this tragedy as an opportunity to move the poorer residents out of the area, out of London even.

There is not much I can say that hasn't already been said but it sounds like the community will stand together and will seek justice on behalf of their neighbours and friends.

I hope the plan to completely gentrify the neighbourhood is never completed.

For you Flowers

Im from North Essex but have been following this since the night it happened.

Im a social housing tenant myself and i post a lot on here about the problems and attitudes towards tenants that are endemic in the social housing sector.

One of the survivors tried to get his £500 today He was told that they had run out of cash and then they later sent £20 to him at his hotel in a taxi. He has a young family The so called organisation by the council is still shambolic nearly a week on.

Wherexx i saw the photos of the pipework you put on the thread in AIBU

Thanks Thanks for those who lost their lives in Grenfell Tower and all affected.

Wherexx Nothing in your OP surprises me at all im sad to say. I know of 3 HAs who are now sending out letters asking for ppl to pay a weeks rent and saying the rent account must ALWAYS show 0.00 even though they are already getting the rent from HB. Suddenly they dont want to wait for the way HB is paid even though that is what they have agreed to.

HelenaDove · 19/06/2017 19:30

These letters have been sent out to long term tenants including pensioners.

Just to say, there are communities, even caring friendly ones, outside London W10. They may well be mono-lingual English speaking, or east European mixed, and in the SW you may be (probably will be) a long way from the nearest mosque or the synagogue.

I am west London but not local anymore

Ashamed about this and ashamed about my city . Just keep talking and keep posting as there are many of us that genuinely had no idea how bad this council were and still are

That estate has been there since I was a baby . Why should the area be cleansed because house prices have risen ?

And where are the funds donated ? Why the fuck are people begging the council for money when people have donated millions ? Where is this money I am so worried about this

I am so sorry it must be like every day you wake up and it's OK for a few seconds ...and then it comes crashing back

Where and Dino

Can't believe it's only a week now . Thinking of you all
