I'm speechless about this

Even if he got the hardest sentence, I still think in most of the cases, sentences are just a joke compared to the physical and psycological damage they had inflicted in a little life. And are definitively not enough to protect our children from further crimes

I read this at lunchtime and am now (after much thought) commenting on a very small statement by Twinkie
"but I would never let a man who was not a family member look after any of my children "
I was wondering whether you actually ment this.
The subject of this thread is abhominal (sp) everyone would agree, but to never let your child interact socially (without you or a member of your family present) with a man, might not be good for that child.
Did you really mean that a male teacher, Headmaster, vicar, scout leader, sunday school teacher, childminder, football coach, dance teacher, policeman or nursery worker will not be left in charge of your children?
I am not confrontational but I felt that I must ask.
I respect your POV, however I feel to bring children up with that attitude is asking for them to have problems relating to men as adults.
I would like to think that this was a 'knee-jerk' reaction to such a horrific report.
I don't want to make waves and you know the right way to bring up your children....It just concerned me

I cant believe this news article, it is the most sickening thing I have ever reas and I wish I hadnt. I want to cry for those poor children. I'd happily castrate that f*cker and let him bleed to death. Lets hope the other inmates make him suffer every dau for the next 19 years, hopefully he'll hang himself.

mummytojames · 24/06/2004 20:25

i just read the report and apart from feeling ery sick and extreemly horrified that anyone could do this sort of thing what hurts me more is the fact he has basicaly got away with it the law used to do it if you commited a crime you went to prison yes what ever happened to that person in prison if it was anything as near as bad as this the guards was alway strangly enough in another room as they got a beating of the other inmate which i agree with but now the law has changed if you do this sort of crime you go into a special prison with other sex offenders and murderous b so they wont touch you more often then not they have been found to be swapping stories which sickens me even more and the uards are not alowed to do anything about it god i thought we are supposed to be punnishing these people not sending them on a busmans holiday which is basicaly what were doing
this might sound sadistic but personaly i think before any sex offender murderor or anyone like that goes into prison they should be put in the same room as the family who they have hurt with the agreement that what ever the family does never happened like i said sadistic but maybe it might make these things think twice before doing what they do

I wish I hadn't read this! If anyone dared even breathe wrongly on ds twins there wouldn't be a prison built that would keep me from sorting him out! That poor poor baby, God what an awful world this sometimes is!

In an attempt to understand I watched the BBC programmes about these perverts, it left me feeling so depressed that these people are allowed to live a normal life while their abnormal drives ruin innocent childrens lives. I thought the programmes would help me not so much understand but realise why they do what they do and show there was light, they could be helped. Now I feel totally irrational and think they should really be given a death penalty. I never imagined I would feel like this as normally I am rational but these monsters....I just can't accept they are allowed out time and time again knowing full well another string of children are about to be destroyed. No one seems willing to protect the rights of the child over those of these monsters.

DH calls it the mother tigress in me, anything to protect my cubs, hell, anyones cubs!

BIL is a prison officer, these abusers are usually segregated as ordinary prisoners will attack given the opportunity, good on 'em.

nightowl · 25/06/2004 03:40

that is shocking. i wish i hadn't read it i agree that that sick bastard should be put in a room with the parents...no actually with every single person who would like to thrash the living daylights out of him. jail is too good for people like that. sick, sick piece of gutter scum. makes me so bloody angry.

busybee123 · 25/06/2004 08:01

the sad twisted bsad!!! oh i hate people like this with a vengeance. if i ever got to him, i would make sure he died painfully and slowly and hang his blls on the nearest lampost. MAD MAD MAD MAD........

wobblyknicks · 25/06/2004 08:08

The only comfort is that they don't have a high opinion of child porn/abuse in prison so hopefully he'll be in for 19 years of hell, if he gets to live that long. Hopefully he's already had his head kicked in a few times.

wobblyknicks · 25/06/2004 08:10

Also totally agree with Paula71 - if he'd done that to my dd there wouldn't be anywhere that could keep him safe from me.

busybee123 · 25/06/2004 08:17

my mum used to work in a prison and she said that child abusers lives were made hell by the other inmates cos they hated them so much. (not as much hell as i would make it though i bet )

marthamoo · 25/06/2004 08:53

I can almost get my head round one sick bstrd doing this - there have always been paedophiles; he is a sick and twisted individual who deserves to rot in prison.

What truly sickens and terrifies me are the statistics about him distributing this stuff: he sent out 3000 images a day (got on average 600 a day in return) and over a 3 week period sent over 30,000 images to 57 different countries. How can there be so many people in the world who want to look at this stuff? What is wrong with them? Honestly I would want to track them down and lock them up too

Twinkie · 25/06/2004 10:49

Nope Katie Mac I meant what I said I would never leave DD alone in the company of a man that was not family be it a policeman, vicar or school teacher.

Twinkie · 25/06/2004 10:51

Oh and she has lots of male relatives and friends and I don't do it obviously but I would never ask or let any of them to look after her without me ther constantly!!

I know I seem paranoid but I'd rather be safe than sorry!!

KatieMac · 25/06/2004 11:13

Twinkie - I think thats really sad for your children.
My DH is a registered childminder and regularily has sole charge of children. He is also a dance teacher and has on occasion held private lessons for children (both girls and boys) where he has been the only person there.
And my DD has stayed with my brother (in another country)

Twinkie · 25/06/2004 11:16

Well my DD doesn't thnk its sad - she is great around people of all sexes and really chatty and friendly with everyone she meets - I am just over cautious I suppose - I know I would not leave her with a male childminder or let her have one to one lessons with a male for any other activity - I would just hate myself if something happened and would rather care about my daughters welfare than what other people thought about the way I raise my children and who I leave them with.

Angeliz · 25/06/2004 11:23

I'm with you Twinkie! (I have been called paranoid one more than one occasion- but i just wouldn't do it). I wouldn't even leave my dd in a room alone with a male Doc!

(There was a case here a few weeks ago where a 7 yeraa old had been abused and secretly videoed in a Doc' surgery!!!!)

She has male family and Godfather and will be in School in September where there are a few male teachers but i just do what i can to prevent a risky situation!
