Saw this on BBC today. Longish read with audio clips from the emergency calls and police dispatches. It happened last year but I never heard about it at the time. Disturbing but really interesting to read about the search as it unfolded.

Very scary. I can't get beyond the map for the outcome unfortunately. Remember the Jamie Bulger case only too well.

Interesting isn't it, worrying to think that the girls will be out in a couple of years, I'm sure they will have been evaluated but it's still chilling.

God, I remember the case, but this report is astonishing. A terrifying story, and as PPs have said, fantastic police work. I wonder what will become of those girls, I hope they will have intensive support and supervision after they are released.

I hope someone has really, really looked into what has been happening in those girls' lives. Kids don't behave like this for no reason. Didn't the boys in the Bulger case have pretty horrific home lives?
