Another terrorist attack ?

They don't know motive yet, suspect identified as Esteban santiago by senator as yet unconfirmed by police.

Awful - but how? In an airport post 9/11?!

I know, you'd have thought that airport security was better than that.

From what I am hearing on the news it was not terrorist related.

What appears to have happened is that the suspect bought in the weapon and bullets in checked luggage from a flight originating in Alaska (again a state where guns are allowed to be carried onto aircraft in checked bags in the hold). Having arrived at baggage reclaim he collected his bag, entered the toilet, loaded his weapon and started firing.

He was in an unsecured area; there is security in this part of the airport but they are mainly there to prevent bag theft from the terminal.

Would appear he was able check in both a gun and ammunition, albeit separately rather than a loaded gun.

Hated the live newsfeeds as they were so confusing with reports of second, third and even fourth possible active incidents going on, all which have proved inaccurate since.
