The piece is very interesting too. It's such a complex subject - yes it makes the 24 week abortion limit look outrageous, but with these very early babies they put so much time and effort into keeping them going and then a very high proportion will die anyway

my DTs were born @ 27 weeks and kangaboy was like that when he was younger BUT now he is nearly 12 years old and is on 75% for height and weight

He is 5' tall now

I was interested to read that they thought the hormones the mother produced due to stress helped the baby survive. I was told that about DS (27 weeks) that the stress produces hormones which helps prepare the baby for an early birth. He doesn't (yet) show any significant problems due to his prematurity..

Kanga how much did your DT's weigh? When did they get onto the normal (non-EDD adjusted) charts?

Mine are identical twins

DT1 was 2lb 13oz {he died when he was just over 5 hours old }

DT2 was 2lb 12.5oz

{he had 2 ages actual age and EDD age for about 2 years}

We were told that black baby girls were the strongest prem babies so I hope Amillia continues to get bigger and stronger

So sorry about DT1 - DS was 980 gr (about 2lbs 1oz)
