Doctors in Scotland Claim to be able to predict when a woman will go through Menapause!

I saw this on BBC Breakfast this morning. They have found a direct relationship between the size of the ovaries, number of mature egss and fertility.... and can use this information to give you an indication of whether you are nearing Menapause or not!
I don't know how accurate they can be, or how far into the future they can tell, but what do you all think?

Would you want to know? A few women were interviewed about it, the general divide is,

Yes it would be great to know if you can put off having children for a another few years and concentrate n career.... and

No it's like finding out when you will die (tad extreme IMHO).

Apparently they can give you up to 10yrs warning!

Menopause age is generally inherited - so a rough calculator of how long you will be fertile is to ask you mum when she had her menopause, then take off ten years (12 if you smoke) and that's your very latest age when you stand a chance of getting pregnant. So if your mum started her menopause at 50, you will probably follow suit, fertility is generally reckoned to end for most women ten years before the menopause, so don't leave it later than 40 - and 38 if you smoke. But that is a rough guide and doesn't apply to all women. I suspect even the ovarian reserve tests won't be accurate to the minute either.

all the women in our family have had early menopause...thats why i am having my family at a young age...i dont want to chance it

My Mum got pregnant rather easily at 36 and 40, then started menapause at 47. She must be mega-fertile!
