Does anyone believe there is a threat from Russia?

I was reading an article today in the Guardian which said that M15 had unveiled Russia to be a real threat for the U.K. and Europe as they have deployed many spies and could be responsible for cyber attacks?

With the warships that took a detour via the west coast of the uk to Aleppo, I was wondering if this is more than propaganda? With Brexit in close range, are we more of a target now and would they want to target us?

When we voted in the referendum I said that if we left the EU Russia would see us as an easy target - didn't expect it to happen so quickly - thought Putin would wait until we had actually left.

Undoubtedly Russia is a foreign power that is not exactly an ally and will therefore probe for weaknesses. I think I've seen somewhere that Putin has an interest in Scottish independence, as that will weaken both Scotland and the rest of the UK, as Brexit has/ will weakened both us and the EU.

But I don't at this point think they're a serious military menace, no. They are posturing and pushing, but equally NATO are pushing them, there are large amounts of weaponry pushing closer to the Russian sphere of influence. Lots of manoeuvring is going on certainly. The business about the warships 'detouring' - how else are they supposed to get the ship round from the north Asian coast to the Med? It can't really be flown over, and there's all this European peninsula in the way. It's also the only active aircraft carrier they have. Since the Cold War many militaries seem to have been run down a bit.

I think some of the news is not Britain trying to drum up a bit of Red menace to distract us from problems at home tbh.

I think both sides are going to make things more and more uncomfortable over the coming months and years.
There were several cyber attacks on the rail network over the past year and although the public obviously aren't being informed as to who perpetrated the attacks I'm sure the gov/intelligence agencies have a good idea and will direct their focus accordingly.

I have to admit, as a prepped, cyber attacks on things like transport, media and power scare the living daylights out of me.
